Ramjas College: Huge Grounds, Modern Facilities, and More

Choosing this college was one of the best decisions I took after completing my schooling. Ramjas College Delhi lies in the center of North Campus, with great connectivity and beautiful landscape. I wanted to pursue Economic (Hons.), so I chose this college as it has one of the best Economics faculty in all north campus. I would 100% recommend it to any fresher who wants to enjoy their college life with a perfect blend of chaos, academics and fun.

I got the admission after the 3rd cut off list of CUET. Admission process is the same as all the other DU colleges. You apply to the university, wait for the merit lists and apply when you get a college/course you like. Talking about the economics course, it is not that rigorous if you take classes and stay up to date with the curriculum. We get proper support for tests, finals and research projects throughout the three years. The structure of the course is very well distributed over the years and it gives the student enough extra time to participate in extra-curricular activities too.

My total fees were around Rs. 14,000 per year. Additionally, there was a nominal examination fee charged by the university. Students from EWS are often eligible for fee waivers as well.

The professors here are well trained and well versed with the syllabus. Each one of them has a unique method of teaching, some expect us to actively participate in the class discussion with blackboard teaching, while some do choose PPTs (depends on the nature of subject - theory or practical). Nonetheless, the faculty gives a nice and humbling experience to us. They teach not just to prepare us for the end sem examinations, but for life. They also engage in fun banters, polity-economic discussions and jokes to keep the mood light.

Ramjas Delhi's P-cell is very active and efficient in bringing in suitable internships all around the year. You just need to be attentive and active in their groups.

The college offers hostel inside the college premises. Hostel is pretty safe, separate entries for boys and girls. Mostly the rooms are triple sharing, warden is cool and mess is decent. The hostel fee is also pretty decent but they are a little strict about the timings.

Ramjas Delhi's campus is one of the largest in north campus. It has well lit classes, pretty corridors, green lawns and 2 large grounds with a unisex gym and TT room. Library is good too, nice collection of books, polite staff and AC halls. We also have an auditorium, amphitheatre, canteen and nursery. For the science building, we have a lift as well. We have chemistry labs, physics labs, computer labs, ECA rooms, gender sensitization cells, separate space for girls called GCR (girl’s common room). Amazing security is there too. My favourite thing about this college is the eco-corridor beside the eco lawns. You can just sit there by the palm trees and pet some dogs (collectively adopted by the students and guards).

DU provides the most exciting campus life possible. Ramjas College Delhi’s crowd is a mix of all ethnicities coming together. You get to make friends and listen to stories of their native places. There are college societies for almost everything- Melange for art and craft, Focus for photography, RDS for dance, Music Soc, Finance Soc, Consulting Society, Enactus for social entrepreneurship, E-cells, P-cells, etc. Then there are departmental societies - EG, ECOSOC (TRES) for economics department. All these societies get to have their own fests, events and competitions all throughout the year.
