SSNCE Chennai highest package is around 84 LPA

I joined this College in 2021. I had the best memories of my life here. Before joining this prestigious College, the factors that made to join this wonderful College is its world-class infrastructure, expert faculties, lush green campus and excellent placement records. The thing which is different from other Colleges in my opinion is the freedom and guidance this College provides. You can become what you wished for; they don’t force you to become only Engineers. If you aspire to become Singer or Sports Player, then this College will support you in all the best possible ways.

The course in which I was enrolled was Mechanical Engineering. The reason why I chose this course was because I was fond of Physics and Automobiles. And most importantly, I hated computers. I joined this College through TNEA counseling under Government quota. For management quota there is written entrance exam and interview for admission. There are 3 internal assessment tests, a model practicals, end semester practical and theory exam for each semester. One thing that they could improve upon is keeping the syllabus up-to-date. So for me, learning out of classrooms was really helpful in preparing for real-life challenges.

For my course under Government quota, the tuition fee is only Rs. 55,000/- but there are some additional charges like special fees, miscellaneous fees, placement fees, admission, registration, caution deposit which altogether makes it cost around Rs. 1,75,000/-. For shared hostels, the fee was Rs. 75,000/-. So, the overall fee that I had to pay was around Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum. Apart from these, we have to pay Rs. 3500/- monthly for mess. For students who are coming from Tamil Nadu Government school will get the chance to complete their education at SSNCE Chennai for free. There is a special scholarship for students coming from rural background. They also have scholarships for lower socio-economic background and merit scholarships for top 6 students of departments is there too. But, I am not sure about amount.

95% of the faculties working here are Ph.D scholars. So, they have immense knowledge and have deep research interests. Most of the faculties would have more than 5 journals or papers published under their name. Some of them have even attended International conferences as well. Most faculties in my department use projectors and blackboards as well. There are few faculties who only use PPT slides to explain. But one thing for sure is all the faculties have immense problem-solving skills. 1:65 is the teacher student ratio. Most of the faculties are approachable and friendly. They are happy to interact and will explain anything like doubts.

There is a dedicated placement cell. They help most students to get placed. Almost 90% of the students would get placed. Different companies come for departments like IT, Management, EPC, Manufacturing, Automobiles, etc. Usually the companies have tests followed by group discussions and interviews. Also the placement cell will conduct 2 weeks of training before placement begins. Some most popular companies are Dow, Caterpillar, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Barclays, Ashok Leyland, McKinsey and more. Average package is 3.5 LPA and highest was 84 LPA. I got placed in Isuzu Motors. My College made my placement experience easier.

Yes, we have hostels. There are 9 blocks with varying types of rooms like shared with attach bathroom, single room with attach bathroom and AC, single room with shared bathroom, and shared room with ac and attach bathroom. There might be movie night once in semester for hostellers specifically. Yes, girls and boys hostel are separate. Mess food taste is above average and they provide Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, and Dinner. No strict hostel timings for boys are there but girls need to be in hostel by 8:30 PM. Hostel experience is where you can build good relationships with others. The minimum hostel fee is Rs. 75,000/- and goes up to around Rs. 1,70,000/-.

We have 9 blocks for different departments and they are huge. There will be minimum of 20-25 classrooms in each of them. Our College is spread on an area of around 230 acres and is located in a prime location. Each classroom accommodates 70 students and they are projector aided. Each department has their own conference or seminar halls. We have a big central library which hosts different genres of books including educational and non-educational. We have 2 auditoriums, one is a big and the other is a mini-auditorium. The big one accommodates up to 1000 students at a time and the mini one can accommodate around 300 students. There is a main canteen and 4 side-stalls and a grocery store. There is clock tower where I spend most of my time. We have 24 / 7 ambulance and nurse availability.

I was surrounded with very good friends who made my campus life at ease in SSNCE Chennai. Late night outings, parties, terrace talks, and what not. Almost 5000 students are there. There are lot of clubs for varied interests like Maths, Quiz, Tamil, Dance, Song, Humor, Entrepreneurship & so on. ‘Invente’ is the technical fest of the College. So, overall, I had one of the most wonderful and memorable College life experience. Students join in various clubs and get great experience.
