Hansraj College Hostel Fee is approximately Rs. 1,00,000/- per year

So, I joined Hansraj College New Delhi one year ago. I had great expectations because of the name and the legacy held by this College and now I can testify that. The College meets all my expectations. The College is a perfect amalgamation of academics and extracurricular, making it a holistic experience for every student studying here. Also being one of the most famous Colleges of the North campus of Delhi University, the opportunities and exposure that the College provides are immense. The campus life that the College offers is unmatched. Therefore, I highly suggest this College, it would surely worth.

So, I have enrolled for the B.Sc (Hons.) in Anthropology course offered by the College. Eligibility criterion for this particular course is that you should have Physics, Chemistry and Biology in your 12th Grade and you would be eligible for this course. Admission process is through the CUET exam where you have to appear for the Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English papers and if you make it past the cut-offs of this particular course, you can take admission in the College through Delhi University counselling process after CUET. This particular course is highly suggested for anyone interested in studying Human Evolution, and in general interested in studying Biology with some element of Sociology in it. The exam structure for this course is semester-wise where you have end-semester exams every six months and also in between, there would be some assignments and internal exams. This particular course is very connected to things that you see in real-life, so the lessons taught in classes many times transcend the boundaries of just academics and teach us a lot about human life in general.

So, the fees structure for this course is about Rs. 30,000/- per year, i.e. for 2 semesters. And this includes everything including tuition fees and other additional fee charged by the College. Apart from this, around Rs. 2000/- have to be paid additionally for the registrations of the examination and this takes place during the semester. Also the College offers some sort of scholarship for the differently-abled students taking admission under the PwD quota. There fee is highly subsidized and the amount varies from course to course.

Faculty members here at the College are highly qualified. Majority of the teachers have done their Ph.Ds or they are post graduates from very reputed National and International educational Institutions. The teaching method used by the teachers is via smart boards and presentations, but they make sure that the class is highly interactive. Also the faculty is very easy to reach out to and is available for the students as and when students require them. The teacher student ratio varies from course to course and for my particular course, it is 40 students per teacher with generally two teachers per subjects, so the ratio is very balanced. The bond with faculty members is very respectful and helping at the same time.

The placement cell of the Hansraj College New Delhi is renowned for its great network that they have built over the years. They play a significant role in enabling students get on-campus placements and thus the placement record of the College is very good. Placement cell conducts many seminars throughout the year, educating students about the CV structures and what all they need to prepare for the interviews. Some of the renowned companies that recently came for on-campus placements are Bain & Co, ZS Associates, Accenture Strategy, etc. The median package offered was somewhere around 8 LPA to 9 LPA for the Analyst role and highest package offered was around 21 LPA.

The College does have its hostel facility for both boys and girls. Boys’ hostel has the facility of Pool Table, Badminton, and Volleyball court, and girls’ hostel also has a Badminton court available. Mess food is good as I have not heard anything bad about it and also the food available is of great variety keeping in mind the diversity of the students present in the hostel. The hostel fee is about Rs. 1,00,000/- per year for both boys and girls. Hostel has its curfew timings of 10 PM for boys and 9 PM for girls. Hostels are only allotted to students coming from different states and not to the nearby commuters.

College has three academic blocks namely A, B & C. The campus area is considerably big which can accommodate the strength of students studying here. The classrooms are fully air-conditioned having seating capacity of 80 to 100 students per class. College does have a 2 storey library, 3 seminar halls, auditorium and multiple conference halls. College also has indoor Badminton court, a Basketball court, sports ground, etc. The College offers canteen and multiple other hangout spots with 3 cafes and a common area called the LP. My particular favorite is the College canteen as it offers great food and a very chill hangout environment.

Overall campus life is amazing as it offers great diversity of students and teachers from all parts of the country. Also, the crowd of the College is premium, which includes students excelling in all walks of life and still prioritizing their studies. A big part of this great College environment is being formed by the College societies which are active throughout the year, making the College life even more vibrant and full of fun. The College also conducts its annual fest named ‘Confluence’ and it is one of the most looked forward to events of the year, apart from this many seminars and speaker sessions keep taking place on a regular basis in the College. For me the campus life is great, it is like a close knit community of like-minded people eager to explore different things and make great memories along the way.
