NIT Raipur accepts JEE Main score for admission in B.Tech

I started by undergrad in 2022. With my score, I was eligible for some other Institutes too, but I choose this Institute for its placements, and the legacy set by seniors & faculties of this Institute with placements being the foremost reason. Many other Institutes are generally located away from the main city but this Institute is situated in the main city and you can get exposure to that city life even while staying in your Institute.

I had been allotted Mechanical Engineering as per my rank. It was not my passion but it was the best choice as per my score. But, soon after I enrolled here, I started enjoying it because of studying subjects like Engineering, Mechanics, and Thermodynamics. For getting admission in this Institute, you have to attempt JEE Main exam. This exam is conducted twice a year and it is one of the most competitive exams in India. After getting a valid score, you have to fill your Institute choices online as per JoSSA guidelines. If you have not been allotted any other Institute then you can apply for CSAB counselling. The coursework here is theoretical, so try to gain practical knowledge my asking your queries to faculties and participating in some competitions.

Total fee for a semester is around Rs. 71,680/- excluding hostel and mess fees. For admission, you have to pay around Rs. 35,000/- during your online counseling which will be refunded after your admission in first year by decreasing first year fee. Students who have annual family income of less than Rs. 1,00,000/- can get full remission on tuition fee. Students with annual family income between Rs. 1,00,000/- to Rs. 5,00,000/- shall get remission of 2 / 3rd of their tuition fee. They have to show their annual family income certificate. For students belonging to SC / ST / PwD, the tuition fee is exempted. There are also several central and state scholarship schemes available like ‘NSP’ and ‘Shraman’.

The professors who teach my course are highly experienced and everyone holds a Ph.D degree from a renowned Institute. There are smart classrooms equipped with boards, screens, projector, mic, and ACs. Some professors prefer conventional method of teaching and like to utilize screens for better visualization of complex topics. Faculties here love to tackle real-world problems and some of them are even top 2% scientists of the world. The teacher student ratio is around 1:30 but there are several other researchers, M.Tech, Ph.D students, whom you can always reach to. You can directly ask your queries in the class or even meet them personally.

There is a placement cell in my Institute which trains students from internships and placements from their 2nd year. It conducts several sessions on resume building, connecting with seniors for referrals, cold-mailing format and more. There are several mock tests and mock interview rounds conducted by placement cell for students. Amazon, BlackRock and many other companies visit NIT Raipur every year. The average package of our department is 10 LPA and highest was 21 LPA.

There are residential facilities in this Institute. There are four hostels for first year students. In two hostels, we have twin-sharing rooms and the other two have triple-sharing rooms. Then, there is a common hostel for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students which include two messes. Girls and boys hostels are separate. The mess food is okay and food is offered four times a day, but it’s off on Sunday nights. Hostel fee is approximately Rs. 54,000/- per year and you have to pay it in two parts. For first year, hostel closes at 9:30 PM and for others, it is 10:30 PM. The hostel life is chill and you can study and enjoy in a group.

The Institute has a main building in which all the classes are scheduled. There is a separate building for Architecture department. There is a central computer center where placements sessions are held. Campus size is around 100 acres and it is directly connected with the main city. Classrooms are smart with required facilities. Library is one the second floor of the main building and you can all the required books in the shelves. Labs are equipped with modern instruments to provide students with exposure to modern research problems. There is one auditorium and a separate space for club activities. There are two food outlets and an Amul parlor. Dispensary is available in Institute in the fixed timings. Guards here are really attentive and you cannot enter Institute without identity cards. My favorite place in the Institute is shadow garden where I can study within the shadow of trees.

The overall campus life at NIT Raipur is decent. The people here are highly talented and competitive. There are several clubs in the Institute. Each branch has their own associations which conduct several events for their branches and sometime inter-departmental activities are also scheduled. There are clubs like ‘Sahyog’, ‘Click’, ‘Literary’, ‘Raaga’, ‘Abhinay’, and many more. There are several competitions conducted by different clubs. Each club hosts a fest every year on a large scale inviting participation from several students across India. My Institute campus life was decent and enjoyable.
