Overall Rating
University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata (UEM) established in 2014, is basically situated at Newtown Action Area III, beside St Xavier's University. The University is very good on the basis of helpful faculties and staffs. The University library is open 24x7 hours. They follow a proper dress code and follow corporate timings. It starts from morning 9:30 AM till 5:00 PM. The University not only focus on academics but also extracurricular activities by forming different clubs. I chose this University because of the proper Placement and faculties helping their students to reach their goal by supporting and trusting.
 

Academics Rating
I took admission in 2021 in the stream of B.Tech Computer Science Engineering. I got admission by giving IEMJEE which was online at that point of time due to COVID-19 but now its offline. The eligibility criteria were 70% in class 10th and 12th and having Physics, Chemistry and Maths in school. After passing the IEMJEE, admission will takes place. In my stream we have two internals and one end semester exams. The two internals take place within 2 months and the end semester takes place within 4 months. Moreover, the course ends within 4 months and students get the opportunity to do an internship in the last 2 months.
During my time the 4 years fees was Rs. 5,81,000/- where during admission they took Rs. 91,200 and from 2nd semester it was Rs. 70,000/- onwards. The University takes Rs. 1000/- during end semesters exam and for backlog they take Rs. 1200/-. For specific students the University gives scholarships based on the criteria as well as some other concession too.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculties are very strict as well as friendly and helpful. They help a lot and guide the student to the right path. They keep daily track by giving assignments and are always available on call or text whenever any students get stuck. They teach us through PPTs as well as blackboards and group discussions. Each class consist of 80 students and 1 teacher. Each department has 1 HOD, 2 Assistant HODs, and 5 teaching teachers. Faculty starts preparing you for Internships from 2nd year onwards, only focusing on projects and coding to make the base strong.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, UEM Kolkata has placement cells bringing big companies to help the students get a secured future.
 

Hostel Rating
As far as I know, University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata does have residential facilities.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus has 3 building which are interconnected with each other. The first building has 4 floors consisting of 2 seminar halls, one canteen, one auditorium, and 3 labs. The second building consists of 4 floors as well having 3 labs, 2 biotech labs, and 1 AutoCAD lab. The third building has 6 floors having 3 labs, one seminar hall, one sports room, one Moot Court and two canteens. The University has two Basketball Courts, one Football Ground, and one Badminton Ground.
 

Campus Rating
From my point of view, my campus life was very good with great seniors, juniors and faculties helping me out in every situation. There are lots of clubs in the University. I was the Gymkhana Head for the academic year 2024-25. The Gymkhana is the student body where all the Class representatives discuss their problems, helping the students. Quiz events like Jigisha and many more events are organised here. The University has two annual fest, one technical fest known as ‘Ureckon’ and one cultural fest known as ‘Ecstasia’.

    Overall, the university is quite good because of friends I have and supportive faculty members. At the end of the day what matters is the memories you make and the things you learn so the campus, fests and all these does not matter that much. Overall, it is good. The faculty members are compassionate, the labs are very good and in classroom, there is no AC, but all the other amenities are there such as projector, speaker, microphones, etc.... Read Full Review

    Overall, my experience at University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata has been amazing. It has been placed on 135th position under Top Engineering Colleges in India' by India Today in 2025. Overall placement guidance and other thing are very good. The main opportunities and connection that this University provides is like no other.     University of Engineering and Management is one of the best private universities in Kolkata. If all that is important to you is placements and good education, this is the best university to go for. The first year students are never bullied or ragged here.
