SVCE Kanchipuram Hostel Fee is Rs. 95,000/- Per Year

Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Kanchipuram is pretty good comparing to many other Colleges and perhaps it should rank among the top 5 private Engineering Colleges in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu district. I came here for their Placement records but right now, they are not what it used to be. They give training every year especially for Placement and there will be a lot of time for you to learn skills yourself apart from academics. The Placement Cell brings in some good companies; you can't blame them for not bringing in companies, because the reason why it dipped was due to the lack of skill set. So, if you care enough to learn the required skills, you'll get placed with a very good package. Apart from this, you'll find your time in this College very good because of its freedom. It gives you a jolly vibe throughout your time, since the rules are not that strict unlike other Colleges. There are a lot of clubs you can be a part of and that actually helps in improving your social and leadership skills. Faculties are somewhat friendly and some might help you with projects and ideas. There used to be a lot of faculties with decades of experience but now there are only a handful of them. You'll enjoy everything and hate only a little bit.

SVCE Kanchipuram has almost all major departments. You'll need 180 plus cut-off to get a seat in this College and the demand for the courses here is enormous, so it'll be a bit hard but there is Management seat too. Almost 50% of total seats are dedicated to Management. During admission, they'll send an email regarding the documents needed and it'll be a long walk from entrance to the location of admission. Once you get into the College, you'll have exams frequently, almost every month. There will be 3 internal exams called FAT every semester and the marks play a crucial role in your grades since 40% of internals will be considered for end semester results. You might not find most of the lectures useful since to get decent marks, preparing with just the notes they provide will be sufficient to get good grades but of course you'll have to work hard to get more. Also you'll have a lot of assignments along with those internal exams and again, they play an important role in your overall grades too. Overall, you'll have a lot of writing work to do.

Fees for DOTE Day Scholars ranges around Rs. 2,00,000/- for the first year during admission and around Rs. 1,40,000/- for the next 3 years. You'll pay additional Rs. 5000/-To compare with other Colleges, the fee structure might look expensive but you'll have well equipped laboratories, clean campus, and restrooms. This does not include food because you'll have to buy from the canteen or bring from home. For hostellers, the fees ranges around Rs. 2,50,000/- or even Rs. 3,00,000/- yearly including food. So yeah, it'll be an expensive one. But they do offer a lot of Scholarships. Students from reservation have their entire tuition fees waived and another Scholarship is there for economically needed students where tuition fee is waived off. There are merit and SC/ST Scholarship too where you can get up to Rs. 50,000/- per year.

Faculties used to be experienced back then when I joined but right now, it's all new faculties. However, you can find these new faculties having graduated from top Universities with distinctions or have experience in the field. They often do research and publish papers and journals, so you won't find much difference because in the end during exams, you'll only use their PPTs and that'll be enough. Every classroom is equipped with projectors and almost 90% of the classes are taken using PPTs accompanied by black board. You can find 1 faculty for a maximum of 20 students. So you'll never have shortage of Professors and they barely take leaves. Even if they aren't available, they'll assign someone to take that hour, so you'll always have lectures. Some faculties are very much approachable; they help you with projects and in networking. You should always respect them and you'll be safe.

The Placement Cell of Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Kanchipuram is always active and they'll bring companies throughout the year. You'll have Placement drive starting early from your 3rd year and companies visit very often till the last semester. They organise training classes during semester holidays or even during regular classes for 1 week. You'll be trained to clear Aptitude rounds and Communication. Moreover, you'll have a dedicated training for coding too. The Cell organises Mock Placements for pre final year students to prepare them and even for mock Placements they bring in HRs from industries, so they might give you Internships too. You'll find it very useful; there are abroad education programs where Global University representatives visit and you can consult them too. Average packages ranges around 4 LPA and highest package is 47 LPA though I am not sure about it. Top companies visit the campus regularly every year. There will be Placements for non-tech roles too.

Hostels are available for both girls and boys, separately. Rooms become leaky during rainy season but are quite spacious. Since intake has been increased, new blocks are being built. Not much of activities from College side but you'll have Hostel Day once a year and it'll be fun with delicious food. Food on regular days is not up to the mark. There will always be enough food but they don't really taste delicious. But you'll have snacks, tea and other things too. Hostel food timings are flexible. Hygiene could be improved. The hostel fee is around Rs. 95,000/- per year, including food. The hostel timings are strict, where boys and girls cannot go out after 6:00 PM. They need to get permission in order to go outside.

The entire campus spans about 100 acres, so it is a pretty large campus for strength of 4500 Students. The campus is green and very clean. They have a large group of staff for keeping the campus clean. The labs are well maintained with new, functional equipment most of the time. Sufficient tools, kits, assistants will be available all the time. You have a large Library where you can borrow books for free (will have to pay fine upon failure to renew) and the library is equipped with centralised AC. Then, there is a large and spacious Multi-Purpose Hall for conducting Hackathons, delivery speeches, cultural events, etc. Seminar hall and Conference hall are also there for small club events and guest lecturers. They often organise guest lectures by industry experts and alumni in these spaces. Then they have a large Cricket ground which is very well maintained with a good College Cricket team. There is a Football ground too but it is not that much maintained comparing to the Cricket field. There is Tennis Court, Basketball Court, and Volleyball Court too.

I really loved my time in SVCE Kanchipuram. You may find it overwhelming in the beginning but you'll love it after a while and will miss it when you leave. The people, the experience, the ambience, everything will make you fall in love with the College. You can enjoy while studying which other Colleges lack. There are a lot of National clubs like NCC, NSS, YRC, RRC, etc. and other departmental clubs too where you'll have events happening throughout the week. The College supports extracurricular activities like sports. It has a competitive sporting team across all the sports. ‘Highways’ is the College’s flagship cultural event that lasts for 3 days. You can enjoy those times with your friends and have a lot of fun.
