Hindu College B.Com Review By Shruti Singh

Hindu College, New Delhi is the part of the Delhi University and it is very respectable college in India especially for the Commerce student. Quality of the education is very good in the college and also the faculty members in the college are very experienced. Best things about the Hindu College is that it has a very rich history since that college is more than 120 years old hence it has a good alumni structure all over the India. College offer courses in only six stream and it is a very specific purpose college. This college was established by Shri Krishna Dassji. I choose this college because of its respects and all the faculty members here are best in India and also the culture of the college is also very good than other colleges. Although my reason cannot by same to others but if someone really looking for a good commerce college can join this college without any second thoughts.

Since Bachelors of Commerce is a graduation course hence we need to qualify the 10+2 in commerce stream with minimum 50 percent marks in commerce subjects. Entry requirement is not a big deal you just have to go to the college and submit all the basic document that they need like 10 and 12 mark sheets and also we need to fill the application form. Admission in Hindu College were done on the basis of the merit list and if someone having more than 90 percent marks did have high chances of selections in the college but nowadays the admissions are done the a entrance exam called Combined University Entrance Test and after that we can select the desired college in the further process after the declaration of the results. Fee in the course was fifty five thousand per year and the duration of the course is 3 year and they follow the semester evaluation scheme.

In whole Delhi University this college will be in top three colleges which has the best teachers across all the subjects in the all courses and in the commerce they are even better than other course. Accounting, Financial Systems, Business Management, Business Economics these are the some of the subjects that are taught by very good teacher and also the qualification of the teachers is also good. Since this college is controlled by the government so the recruitment of the teachers are done by the UGC NET exam which means best of the best candidates in the NET exam becomes teachers in the college. All the faculty members are well qualified and they did the PhD from the very respectable organization in India and there are more than 20 teachers in the faculty of commerce and all of them are very experienced they are teaching students from decades.

Most of the college under the Delhi university provide good placement opportunity for the students and being a B. Com student I had the opportunity to get placed in the HR and also in the accounting firm but I decided to upgrade my knowledge and to pursue M. Com. But most of my classmate got very good placements. Various companies visit the campus promises and some of them are LEK Consulting, Tata Consulting Services, Mckinsey, DE Shaw, Infosys, and Brain and Co. Average package of the institute was also good and in batch it was around 8 Lakh per Annum and the highest package was offered of around Rs. 25 Lakh per Annum. The placement cell in the Hindu College called Disha and its cell also provide paid internships such that we can earn money while studying in the college. I too did few internships that were provided by the Disha.

College give us the opportunity to select the hostel provides by the college and the hostel provides by the college is also good they give average facilities in the hostel and it is not very good or very bad as compared to other college yet it is good in the place like Delhi where the conditions to live are not good because of the air quality is very bad in the city. This college is in the middle of the old Delhi. There are no such activities that happen in the hostel. Most of the recreational activities happen in the campus. There are unlimited Rooms are available outside the campus with very good infrastructure but the fee in the PG is relatively very high and there are also many security issue as a girl we face living outside the campus. So I preferred to live in the college campus hostel due the security problems outside the college and also the fee is also less inside the college campus hostel.

Library in the Hindu College must be biggest library in whole Delhi NCR region and the number of books in the library is also very high and book management is also very good and we can find the books very easily in the library among the hundreds of thousand books. Now Hindu College is also converting book in the eBook format. Classrooms in the college are good and all of them are designed in a very good way and the seating capacity of each class is also very limited. College has many resources like Medical facilities, Gym facilities and the cafeteria. Auditorium is also very good in the college and all the seats in the auditorium are also very good. Sports facilities are also pretty tight in the college and many types of games are played in the college and there are also football and cricket grounds in the college.

MECCA is the main annual fest that happen in the Hindu College and not only in Hindu College it is a fest for the all Delhi University Colleges. In MECCA we invite celebrities to perform and we also participate in the fest for the performances in various categories and before that we must go through the auditions conducted by the faculty members. MECCA happens in the month of March. There are also some small fests that happen in the college but all of them happen on the departmental level like a fest called Zeitgeist organized only for the students of the Commerce only. There are numerous clubs in the Hindu College and students can join the clubs based on their interest like students interesting in dance would join Dance Society. I had enjoyed and learnt in my life at the Hindu College.
