VIT University Chennai Hostel In-Time is 8 PM

My overall experience in VIT University, Chennai is good. It is reputed University to choose for your degree. They offer many programs like MBA, BBA, Law, Fashion and M.Tech which increases the options for students to apply for different courses. It has good connections if you're planning to study abroad for masters or any exchange programs. According to QS world ranking it stands 9th in India and 142nd in the world amongst Engineering Colleges/Universities which is pretty high when compared to few NITs and IITs. It also makes students from different cultures feel included. They provide the exposure and networking opportunities to the students. They also offer the startup ecosystem with alumni network is also great.

My course is Computer Science Engineering. I chose this course because it is highest demanding and paying course in the Tech industry. Getting a particular course depends upon your VITEEE entrance exam rank and the campus you choose. For academics we have credit system for every course like for my course you have to complete 151 credits to get the degree. For every course they have different subjects and difficulty level also varies according to the course. We have two internal exams which are CAT1 and CAT2 (50 marks each and overall weight age of 15) with one final exam FAT (100 marks and overall weight age of 40) and internals are of 30 marks. It will include assignments, quizzes, and project reviews.

The overall fee structure depends on your rank and the category you enrolled in. There are 5 categories and the tuition a fee goes higher as the category increases. It also depends on the course you choose like my course has the highest fees then other specialisation. There is no biasness in the admission process for SC/ST categories and it all depends on your rank.

We have faculties from all over India like from North and South. You will feel little bit of language barrier in their teaching style. Some teachers are very sweet if you make great connections with them and they will help you throughout your 4 years because they have some great networks with industry people. We have multiple faculties for each subject and you also get a choice to change a faculty if you don't like their teaching style in the first 3 days of a new semester. Mostly all of them teaches through PPTs and also provides you notes. They provide you worksheets and previous year questions as well which are important to solve when you are preparing for an exam. Some subjects require group discussions, projects and presentations which also happen in the classes frequently.

Yes, VIT University, Chennai provide accommodations to the students. It's been two years since I am living in hostel. There are two hostel blocks allocated to girls which are B block & half of C block. The hostel rules are pretty strict like 8 PM is In-time and you have to write it in the register whenever you go out. The prices are same as retail prices not anything higher. There are two type of choice of food while choosing mess like vegetarian or non vegetarian. There are two Canteens and also the fruit shops. The fruit shops also opens from 9 AM to 9 PM, they make fresh fruit juices, fruit chaats, and also give you fruits if you want to purchase according to per gram prices. They have night Canteen which provides decent food. Overall hostel life is pretty fun and good.

The VIT Chennai campus is pretty big as 192 acres approximately. Presently we have 5 academic blocks (AB1, AB2, AB3, AB4, and AB5) and A, B, C, D1 & D2, hostel blocks where B and half of C block are for girls rest is for boys. All the academic blocks have amphitheaters on the ground floors, Canteens and printing shops on multiple floors. They have well equipped labs. We have many food joints like Gazebo, North Square, Gym Khanna, Domino's, and Hunger. They have Football ground, Cricket ground, Basketball court, Badminton court, and basically place to play every sport. They have kept enormous number of books for every branch every course.

My overall campus life is quite fun. The college crowd is 50% north and 50% south. There is no concept of ragging. The seniors are very chill and helpful. There are more 100 clubs like Tech, Non-Tech, and Social which organises multiple events throughout the year. You can join many clubs as you want and it helps you in making meaningful connections while socialize with people. Apart from this they also celebrate festival like Pongal, Lohri, Onam, Makar Sankranti, and many more. It is the best time to create memories with friends.
