NUSRL Ranchi Hostels are Known as 'Halls of Residence'

NUSRL Ranchi being a tier 3 University all over India is decent. The professors here are experienced experts and provide you both theory and practical insights. Talking about the infrastructure, it is huge with a pollution free environment situated 16.2 KMs away from the main town. The atmosphere is student-friendly, and you will meet many supportive seniors who will guide you in your journey. The main reason I chose this Institution is because it is the best one in Ranchi and is easily accessible to me as well. So, the people of Jharkhand should definitely have this University on their list. Talking specifically about what is different here, the first and foremost is the competitive crowd, all of them have cleared an entrance exam, and are ambitious and serious towards their studies.

I chose B.A.LL.B (Hons.) as it provides versatile foundation for Legal career by integrating Humanities with Law. The sole eligibility criterion for getting in this University is to clear Common Law Admission test, more commonly known as CLAT examinations. It is conducted once a year during first week of December. Once you clear this exam, you will have to get enrolled in the counselling session; here request will be sent to you according to your rank. In order to get into NUSRL Ranchi, your rank should be under 1300 for General category, around 2600 for OBS and for SC/ST category, it is 5000.

The fee for my course is around Rs. 2,45,000/- per year which is for two semesters and for 5 years. LL.M fee is about Rs. 2,19,000/-. Hostel rent, internet, mess, and semester charges are included in the fee you pay. Scholarships are also provided, where merit scholarship goes up to Rs. 50,000/- as a tuition waiver, support scholarships are for students whose family income is less than 2.4 LPA. External scholarship is provided by State or Central Government.

Faculty is comprised of experienced and assistant professors specialising in various fields like Criminal Law, Corporate Law, International Law, and Economics. Many of them holding Ph.Ds, UGC NET qualifications, and extensive teaching/research experience. The professors are known for their strong qualifications, dedication to legal education, and involvement in University committees and research, with a focus on interdisciplinary activities. Many of the teachers are NLU graduates. They mostly teach using black board, PPTs and class discussions. These take place via a sequence of questioning and answering, and by providing practical scenarios and circumstances to the students. The faculties are available throughout the Institution hours and via subject groups to solve our doubts. For each subject we have skilled professors.

We have a dedicated Recruitment Coordination Committee. The average packages are around 9 LPA to 10 LPA and higher PPO attracting firms visit our campus.

Our hostels are also known as 'Halls of Residence'. Both male & female hostels are separate with each having 4 floors. We have common washroom and Wi-Fi facility is available as well. Curfew timings are 11:00 PM. The hostel has sharing rooms of two till our 3rd year and after that, we get single seater rooms. Talking about mess particularly, there we have a good menu throughout the week, and we also have a Mess Committee where students keep a check on hygiene and the quality of food we get. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is provided separately.

We have a huge infrastructure and one of the largest campuses among all the NLUs, spreading over 67 acres. A library is also there. We have one academic block with air conditioned lecture halls and AV systems, a well stocked library, gym, sports facilities, canteen, and auditorium. Medical transport is present 24 hours; we have a health care centre available inside NUSRL Ranchi as well. The whole environment is eco-friendly where you'll find a lot of greenery. A Basketball and Badminton courts are also present.

The overall campus life is amazing and competitive at the same time. The crowd is the best part of this University, while you will find students mostly from Jharkhand with a lot of them belonging from Ranchi itself, we also have individuals from other parts of India including Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Punjab, Assam, and many more. Arounds 2 fests are conducted in a year. The Cultural Club Committee is very active hosting various events. There are several clubs like Moot Court Committees, Internal Complaint Committee, IPR Committee, Editorial Committee, Anti-Ragging Cell, and many others.
