NUSRL Ranchi's Fee Structure and Scholarship Opportunities

When I first gave CLAT and was allotted National University of Study and Research in Law, I was actually very disappointed because since I am from Jharkhand, I did not want to stay in the same state for university. But when I came here and spent some days, I was actually really happy. First of all the place where it’s located, it is in Kanke surrounded by greenery all around. I really loved this factor. The weather here is also really nice. Apart from that, faculties are kind and helpful.

I am currently in 2nd year of my 5 year degree. I am doing B.A.LL.B. Honors. The admission process is only through CLAT which is conducted by Consortium of NLUs every year in December. In my course, we have 2 semesters of 5 months each in a year. Each semester, we have one midterm and then one end term examination. Apart from that we are also required to make research papers for our internal evaluation. Academics in law does not prepare much for real life experiences that is why we have got 2 months of internship break every year. After every semester, we are required to do internships in whatever field we are interested in to gain experience.

So fee for B.A.LLB Honors is approx. Rs. 3,00,000 per year that divides between 2 semesters with Rs. 1,50,000 – Rs. 1,80,000 in odd semesters and approx. Rs. 1,00,000 – Rs. 1,20,000 in even semester. Admission fee is paid only once during admission. No discount in fee although scholarships are provided to SC / ST students of Jharkhand state.

Faculties of National University of Study and Research in Law are actually really nice in my point of view. They all are mostly Ph.D holders. Teaching style of every faculty differs. They are very much approachable and helpful in all aspects, be it academics or personal life. They are ready to help in all ways they can. My experience with all the faculties who have taught me has been wonderful. They all teach really well and seem to be very knowledgeable.

There is a placement cell in our university. But as far as I know, people get jobs during their final year of internship only.

Yes, our university offers hostel facilities and in fact it is compulsory for every student to stay in hostel. Day schooling is not allowed. Girls and boys hostel are separate. Hostel fees are included in the semester fee itself. Mess food is not so good.

Infrastructure is according to me really good. We have got good spacious rooms and pretty good classrooms and lecture rooms with centralised ACs. Library is also very nice, big and spacious with a lot of books although other students over here say that it’s not so big, I think it has sufficient number of books required for our courses apart from course books, we have also got fictions, magazines and newspapers.

Overall campus life here in National University of Study and Research in Law is satisfactory for an introvert like me. Since the campus is really big, there is a lot of space to take long walks in nature and ponder upon your life choices. There are many clubs like cultural club, literary society, Kautilya society, readers club, etc. Also fests are conducted once or twice every year. Some celebrities and influencers come in the concerts. Fest days are really fun in university.
