Mar Athanasius College of Engineering B.Tech Review By Henry Franco

I joined Mar Athanasius College of Engineering Kothamangalam in the year 2019. My branch is electronics and communication engineering. The reason I chose this branch is because of interest towards electronics and anything related to electronics. I had applied to many colleges after my 12th exam for engineering. I got selected in colleges like FISAT, MBITS etc. but what made me choose MACE is because its government college which means lesser fees and experienced teachers. They have very good infrastructure and all the latest labs and components, the faculty there is always supporting and pushing us to aim higher. Apart from academics there are various clubs which will help us grow as a person.

The course I took is electronics and communication engineering. It mostly deals with electronics but not core like EEE. It's mostly the devices than the circuit. To crack or to join this college one has to write Kerala Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Entrance Exam (KEAM) after 12th and one should be able to clear the cut off rank which also takes into consideration the marks of 12th.

The faculty present in MACE are very supportive. They are well qualified and help us to grow as a better human being. The college provides them with opportunities to go for higher studies so they keep updated with the latest technologies etc. They teach in a very easy manner bringing in practical applications which helps us to understand and learn faster. They also teach us to apply what we study.

Yes our college has placement cell. It is very efficient as almost 80 percent of our students have been placed in my batch of 2023. Average placement offer is Rs. 5 lakh and the highest package being Rs. 12 lakhs. More than 100 offers have been given by top companies like IBM, TISMO, Zoho, mindtree etc.

Yes we do have residential facilities in our college. Students of different year are given different blocks to stay. The infrastructure is really good. The rooms are spacious, clean and vibrant, we have a football ground and a swimming pool near our hostel for recreational activities. Also badminton court is available inside the hostel.

Campus was built in the 1960s. It is one of the oldest engineering colleges in Kerala. Every department has a separate block which reduces the crowd and hastle, every department have their own Library for students and teachers. Labs are present in their respective departments also seminar halls present to conduct meetings. We also have a common library with a large collection of books. A canteen is also present which provides snacks and meals.

The overall campus life is very good as there is a balance between studies and activities. There are many clubs present in our college like debate club, music club, dance club which helps us to improve as a person and also clubs like iot, netx, IEEE to improve our technical skills. We have two fests which is technical fest Takshak conducted in the month of October and annual fest Sanskriti conducted in the month of may.
