The National Institute of Technology Silchar is a Government Educational Institute that falls under the Institute of National Importance. It offers various courses for students such as B.Tech, M.Tech, Ph.D, MBA, B.Sc, etc. It is a prestigious Institute in which students from all over the India joins here for education. It has a very good reputation in case of higher studies and placements.

Although this Institute offers a variety of courses across different domains, but I chose to pursue B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) in Electronics and Communication Engineering. We know that the world is dependent on electronics and semester iconductor. Talking about the eligibility criteria, we have to clear JEE Main exam. For the ECE branch, General candidates must score above 98 percentile and for OBC it is around 95+ and for SC / ST, it is around 85+ percentile. Further, seats are allocated via JoSAA counselling. After the allotment of the Institute, students have to finish further procedure via offline method where documents are checked. Taking about the frequency of exams, the B.Tech course has 8 semester esters and each semester esters has 1 mid semester exam, 1 minor test, 1 class test / (marks of attendance), 1 end semester exam. The academics prepare the students to deal with real world problems and it creates such a pressure which is good for short term, so the students transforms a skilled individuals and it is guaranteed that each students capable of self employment and get successfully in their life.

The tuition fee is around Rs. 97,000/- for General and OBC category students & Rs. 11,705/- for SC/ST students for UG courses. It also offers scholarships schemes for needy students/

The ECE department consists of 27 teaching professionals in which there are 5 professors, 11 associate professors, 11 assistant professors, other trainee professors, and TA (Teaching Assistant). Overall, the Institute has Nation’s best teaching professionals for the students. The problem solving abilities of the faculties are also excellent. They can solve top-level problems throughout the domain and provides best approach and problem solving technique to the scholars. The teacher- student ratio ranges from 1:15 to 1:20 depending on the year. The experience and bonding with faculty is very good. They treat students as their own child and provide guidance without hesitation. Every individual is highly approachable. We can just visit their chambers for any kind of guidance or information that you have to gain through them.

This Institute is known for its excellent placement drives across all the courses. Placements in my program are very high with an on campus placement percentage of upto 90 %. The Placement Cell is known as TnP (Training and Placement Cell). the renowned companies that often visit for on campus placements are Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Apple, Netflix, Qualcomm, Nvidia, Micron, AMD, JP Morgan, Deloitte, etc.

Yes, the Institute offers residential facilities for students as well as faculties and workers. It has 8+ boys’ hostels and 2+ girls' hostels. There are dedicated hostels for students of each year. It offers single seater rooms for 4th year B.Tech UG students. Yes, the girls and boys are separated but there are also co-ed hostels as well. Mess food is descent and hygiene is also average. It offers 3 meals per day also evening snacks and special meals on festivals. The hostel fees is Rs. 24,000/- per semester ester for the UG students. Timings for girls in time is 9:30 PM and for boys it's 10 PM.

The Institute has a massive area of 650+ acres. It is very lush green with a variety of flora and fauna. It is located in Silchar Assam. For now, there is no fixed data for total classrooms but it is enough for every student. The Institute have Asia’s biggest digital central library with large academic building and dedicated cricket and football stadiums and a indoor sports complex for physical activities like gym, badminton, table tennis, auditorium, etc.

Overall campus life is excellent. The main reason behind it is due to the fest and concert culture in the Institute. The annual cultural fest of our Institute which is ‘Incandescence’ is the North East’s one of the biggest cultural fest. many renowned artists have performed in these events such as Javed Ali, Mohit Chauhan, Raftaar, etc.
