NIT Silchar at A Glance: Admission Process, Fee Structure, & More

Overall Rating
NIT Silchar is a good institute. I joined this institute through CSAB counseling. I selected this institute because of its placement record. This institute has better placement percentage than any other tier 2 institutes especially in core branches. Campus life of this institute also attracted me. In this institute, there are more than 25 lakes, which is very attractive. Another factor that played major role in choosing this institute was my sibling is an alumni of this institute.
 

Academics Rating
I have Civil Engineering branch through CSAB counseling round. Candidates who get the rank under 58k in general category can get admission this branch of the institute. In first year of the institute, all the branches have same curriculum. Mid semester and end semester exams, happen in the institute. There are some minor tests. From second year, classes for individual branch studies get started.
The fee of this institute depends on family income of candidates as if a candidates whose family income is more than 5 Lakh have to be paid full fee, which is around Rs. 62,500 per semester. Candidates who have family income between 1 Lakh to 5 Lakh have to pay 1/3 of the fee. Moreover, candidates who have family income below 1 Lakh people have full fee waiver. To claim the fee waiver, you have to show your income certificate. My fee is Rs. 21,000.
 

Faculty Rating
Teachers of this institute are well trained and highly qualified. Most of the teachers are polite. All the teachers are from the background of PhD, M.Tech, etc. from very renowned institutes like IITs, Howrah University, etc. Teachers teaches us in both blackboard and white board. Overall institute the teacher to student ratio is to be 1:80. There are separate tutorial classes in which student can solve their problem and ask their queries. Teachers also solved their doubts. In tutorial classes, PhD scholars take classes.
 

Placement Rating
There is a placement cell in the institute. It helps students to get jobs in both tech and core companies. Companies like Flipkart, Google, L&T, Tata, etc. often like to visit the campus. The average package of the institute is about 12 LPA and its highest package is around 56 LPA. Some students also prepared for gate exam and wanted to work in PSUs and doing M.Tech .
 

Hostel Rating
There are 11 hostels in the institute in which 8 are boy’s hostels and 3 are girl’s hostels. For every year student, there are separate hostel. Mess food of the hostel is okay. Both Veg and non-veg food is available in the hostel mess. Hostel fee is Rs. 22,500 per semester for every student.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Campus of NIT Silchar is very beautiful. This NIT also has Asia's Largest Digital Library in with more than 1 Lakh books and Journals. There is also different type of classes like auditorium type or normal classes. Sports Facilities are of high quality. There are football ground, cricket ground, gym, badminton court, volleyball court, tennis court, and table tennis arena are available in the institute.
 

Campus Rating
Overall, my campus life is very good. Around 4000 B.Tech students are studying here. Other than that, there are M.Tech and MBA students also. Some of the clubs of the campus include coding club, Machine Learning Club, GDGC Club, NSS, NCC, and Gyansagar. I am the part of Gyansagar and Machine Learning club. In Gyansagar, we taught the students who are unable to study. These Students are from the nearby villages. Technical fest is ‘Technoesis’ and Incandescence is its cultural fest Incandescence is second largest fest in North East after IIT Guwahati. My experience about the campus life is awesome.

    I am a student at NIT Silchar pursuing B.Tech in electronics and communication engineering. Overall my experience in NIT Silchar is good. I have made lots of friends here. The reason I choose NIT Silchar is that it is very close to my home town i.e. just 8 hours and the NIRF ranking is also good.     The overall experience in NIT Silchar is not bad. I chose this Institute because it has the sports facilities and it is in my interest. The natural environment is appreciable. The placement is also decent. In NIT Silchar, ragging is strictly prohibited which lacks in many Institutes. The clubs and societies are very active helping students to showcase their talent.     National Institute of Technology, Silchar has one of the most beautiful and lush green campus across all NIT's in India. Infrastructure, faculty, facilities, academics, and classrooms are very well maintained. There is the campus of 625 acres with many different things around the whole institute.
