'SRM Merit Scholarship' is Available for Students at SRM University Kattankulathur Kanchipuram

Overall, my experience at SRM University Kattankulathur has been pretty mixed. The campus is really big and there is a lot of greenery which I really like. Infrastructure is also one of the good things about this one, especially library, classrooms, labs and sports facilities. There are a lot of clubs, events, hackathons, and other activities happening throughout the year. So usually, there is something going on. At the same time attendance is taken pretty seriously. The campus can also get very crowded during academic hours. Overall, I think this University gives you a lot of opportunities but you have to actually make use of them yourself. Just being in the University doesn’t automatically mean you will get everything, you still have to put in your own effort.

I chose B.Tech because I wanted to go into the Engineering and Computer Science field. This one had a lot of options for different specialisations. The admission process was fairly straightforward, although getting the branch you want can depend on your score and the admission route. Academically, there are regular classes, assignments, lab sessions, internal tests and semester exams. First few semesters have a lot of common subjects and later it becomes more focused on your branch. There are practical subjects too which is useful because you don’t only study theory. One thing I noticed is that teaching quality can vary depending on the subject and the faculty. I wouldn’t completely depend on classroom teaching if you really want to get strong in your subjects. Keeping up with assignments and internals is also important because things start getting piled up if you leave everything for the end.

The fee is definitely on the expensive side. The exact amount is variable from branch to branch and course to course. The SRM University Kattankulathur Kanchipuram offers merit and need based scholarships like SRM Merit Scholarship. Category based fee concession is available as well.

Faculty experience has been mixed for me. There are some teachers who are really good at explaining concepts and are easy to approach whenever you have doubts. they usually explain topics using PPTs, board and examples. The faculties are generally approachable when you actually go and ask a doubt, especially if you show that you have tried to understand on your own first. I feel the experience depends more on the individual teacher than the University itself. Some faculty members are very supportive and helpful. Overall I would say the faculty is decent.

The University has a Placement Cell. A lot of companies are invited for recruitment drives. The cell conducts different activities related to aptitude tests, interviews, and resume building. the University does conduct placement drives, but your performance depends a lot on your personal skills. I would suggest you to start your preparation early instead of waiting until the final year.

Personally, I haven’t stayed in the hostel, so my experience here is based on what I have seen and heard from other students. Both AC and Non-AC rooms are available in various occupancies. The basic facilities are decent and having the hostel inside or close to the campus is convenient because you don’t have to travel every day. Mess food is also something that can be much better. Hostel rules are also something you need to get used to because timings and other restrictions are followed. Overall, I would say the hostel is convenient but it can get expensive. The experience depends a lot on the room and the people you stay with.

Infrastructure is probably one of the best things about the University. the campus is really huge and there are multiple academic blocks, labs, libraries, and auditoriums, canteens, and sports facilities. The classrooms are generally good and the newer buildings especially feel pretty modern. The central library is one of my favourite places on campus because there are a lot of books and enough space to study. There are also food courts and different canteens so you have quite a few options during breaks. The sports facilities are also good. there is a hospital on campus which is useful. Overall the infrastructure is definitely a strong point of the University and probably one of the things that stands out the most.

Campus life at the University is actually nice. Since the campus is so big and there are students from different places, you get to meet a lot of people and there is always something happening somewhere. there are Technical clubs, Cultural clubs, Sports activities, Hackathons, and much more. If you are interested in these things, you can easily find something to join. Festivals and other events can also be pretty fun. I think campus life becomes much better once you find your own group of friends and get involved in things outside academics. Overall, I would say there is a lot to do but you have to actually participate. If you only come for classes and go back, your experience is obviously going to be very different from someone who joins clubs, attends events, and works on projects.
