GCE Ratnagiri is also Called 'Loknete Shamrao Peje Government College of Engineering'

I am an Engineering student of GCE Ratnagiri since 2022 year in the branch Artificial Intelligence & Data Science. We are the 2nd batch of this College. Official and other name of the College is Loknete Shamrao Peje Government College of Engineering. Being the only Government Engineering College in the Konkan region, College has provided some better facilities. I chose this on for the unique specialization & curriculum. I think most of the students also consider the same and take admission here, where most of the Colleges offering Computer Science degree.

The main motive behind taking this course was the fond & fascinated towards the new technology. The eligibility for being enrolled in the above course we need to score approximately 70 & 80 percentile in MHT- CET examination or JEE Main. In addition, for taking in direct second year you require an 80% in Diploma. Admission process of the College is not as smooth as Private Colleges, you need to carry all the required documents with you as the admission authority never compromise with it. There are total 8 semesters so there are total 8 exams are held and a mid semester exam in each semester. The syllabus is pretty much updated.

In our College for every branch, the fees are same. I paid fees for a year was Rs. 9000 /-. Alongside of that, we need to pay exam fees before an exam. In addition, we need to pay for students registration fees for every semester a nearly Rs. 3000/-.

As we took admission in very initial days of our College, the faculties guided us were changing frequently. From second year, our faculty became permanent until the final year and teaching faculties are knowledgeable people and very kind to reach out. Some subjects we learned with the help of PPTs and some subjects were taught on the board. There were very few teachers for our branch so sometimes a single is teaching 2 subjects. We really created a strong bond with our faculties.

There is an Placement Cell in our Government College of Engineering Ratnagiri.

As we were the 2nd batch of the College, there was a single small building given to perform our academic activities. The campus is surrounded with Diploma College and a Pharmacy College buildings. From the 2024, the new building of our College was inaugurated and brought to use. New classroom are having smart boards. There is a library in our new building. There are computer labs in old building. There is no transport facility provided by College. Our favorite place in College was sitting in stairs coz there is no separate space for waiting in old building. The best facility or the infrastructure were the computers in lab, they were the latest and fastest computers we were using.

Because the entire campus is divided in three Colleges, we get very few places for our College campus. Nowadays, crowd is increased in campus because the all branches are filled with students. There were very few extracurricular activities arranged by our College. Annual fests are celebrated enthusiastically in our College. There is a events week or a month in our College. In that, we arrange various indoor and outdoor games and general championship. In addition, we celebrate days in week like traditional day, retro day etc. At last, we end up fest with annual gathering named as ‘Raga’.
