Datta Meghe also known as D. M. C. E. is a private engineering college in Airoli. It is famous for its alumni which is today one of the most subscribed channel in India, Ashish Chanchlani. The college is affiliated to Mumbai University. It has a produced some of the toppers of the semester examination of Mumbai University. It is a good engineering college. The principal of the college is a very well reputed person, who was also awarded as the best principal in the Maharashtra and Goa region in 2020. It is around 35 year old college with very well experienced faculties. The alumni are very strong and supportive, they make a visit every year, they chat with us and guide us through our career. This gives us motivation to achieve something big in life.

Talking about the academics, the curriculum is set by the Mumbai University and not the college itself. There are two small tests that are conducted between the semester examinations. All the papers are made and checked by the professors or invigilators of Mumbai University. But the term work marks, practical marks and the oral marks are all given by the professors of the college themselves. The cut off for the college's main department, the computer science department is not much high. You can take admission in Datta Meghe College of Engineering through the marks obtained in the MHT CET and the JEE Mains examinations. In MHT CET the cut off are near 90 percentile for CSE. There are new branches that are introduced in our college as they are very much in demand in the recent times. They are Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Machine Learning. They are started in 2020 so none of their batch is graduated yet. The college is very well reputed in the Airoli - Thane region and I had exceeded their cutoff, thus I took admission here. Academic session including conduction of all the theory lectures, practical , mini projects and final year projects are all strictly implemented by taking into consideration the academic calendar.

The faculties are very well experienced. They all are working with the college from a very long time, almost many are working from the 2000s. Thus they really know the needs of the students, industries and how to implement all the professional courses in the due period of time. The college has implemented a teacher guardian scheme that allows to make a batch of 20 and allot them a guardian that will help them with all their problems throughout the college years. They mentor us by encouraging us for curricular and extra co curricular activities' participation, any issues faced, or any other problem and getting in connect with the parents if needed as per their problems. They create a comfortable learning environment for us to study. This scheme allows faculties to pay individual attention towards every student. There are parent teacher meeting that take place every four weeks that keeps the faculties updated of the progress they make at home as well as the parents. They take remedial lectures for weaker students and help them being strong in their weak subjects to get a good CGPA.

The placement cell consists of some non teaching faculties along with the vice principal and some other members. The placement scenario of the college is descent and can be considered as average with respect to other colleges in Mumbai. The highest package offered in the campus last year was 9 lakh per annum and the average of all departments is around 3 lakhs annually. The cell works round the year efficiently to liaison with many major corporate organizations. They facilitate training and live projects for the students. They also ensure industry exposure to the students from time to time by organizing meet ups and lectures by some of the top corporate leader in the IT sector. They invite trainers to up skill the soft skills of the students by arranging one to two month training for them. The cell makes efforts to make the students perform better in the recruitment drives held in the campus. They also give help to students who are looking for off campus opportunities and also for studying for higher studies in India and abroad.

No, we don't have hostel

A new building is there, which is for the degree students. The college also had a diploma course a few years back, which is now closed. So they had a separate building that is now being razed. Another new building is being constructed to facilitate the degree students in a smooth way. So in the coming years, there will be two buildings for degree students. Each building will have 3 branches each. The older building has the principal's office. There is a small canteen on the first floor. Besides the canteen is a gym. But students need to pay extra from the college fees to use the gym. It is air conditioned and has good equipment and trainers. The classrooms are very large and have big windows for ventilation. There are projectors in every class. The labs are also big enough to fit 30 to 40 student batch. The computers have a very high speed wi-fi available. The campus is not much big but has an upcoming play ground near it.

Many events keep happening in the college throughout the year. The main fests are held in the month of March. There are sports competitions, dance and fashion show. There is also a singing competition and street play act. Some of the well known Marathi celebrities come in these events and sometimes also for their movie promotions. The Ganpati festival is held in full swing here. Everyone is excited for it. All the festivals like Holi, Maharashtra Day, Marathi Day and Diwali is celebrated in the college premises. There are 4 to 5 clubs. They are entrepreneur cell, dance club, coding club and some others. Students enjoy to be in these clubs as these help them in managerial skills and upgrade their communication skill set. There is also a Dhol Tasha Day on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's birthday. The faculties also dress up ad come in the fashion show. They also like to play holi with us.
