About the college Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT) started in the year 2006, and in its brief timeline, has grown many fold over the years. It has been imparting quality technical and management education to thousands, and the strong alumni network is only a testimony to it. The college intakes students through entrance exams like CET and COMED-K, and management quota every academic year. The college is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and hence follows its Guidelines for admissions. Along with all major streams of engineering, unique courses such as BE in AI and ML, Marine Engineering and Nanotechnology are offered by the college, which are definitely niche skills to acquire. Distinctively a five year B. Arch programme is also available, which moulds students to design the most modern human habitats. In addition to these under graduate courses, there are post-graduate programmes like M.Tech, MBA, MCA options available. None the less to say Srinivas Institute of Technology amazes you with a plethora of courses under a single roof. If you are an engineering aspirant and would love to do inter-disciplinary projects or get into building start ups, this should be the place for you, because of the sheer talent pool available at your footsteps. It is a campus where every talent resides for every other niche skill. It has to note that students across the country come here to study, hence it is a melting pot of cultures and should give you a vivid experience Phew...! I am sure you will not miss an opportunity to take a look into this Temple of Learning.

Management
No matter how ever good the college is, it has to be backed be even better management and Visionaries. SIT is over-whelming blessed in this front. The college is managed by the prestigious SRINIVAS GROUP, which has been transforming lives through education since 1988 in diverse fields. These include Medicine, Engineering, Hotel Management, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and Nursing spread across 3 different campuses in Mangalore. It is only fair to assign a distinct pedigree to the group for the multifarious outlook they provide. The management has gone a leap ahead to establish the SRINIVAS University, which in itself is an achievement, and would enable to design niche courses and make student more industry ready. From my experience, the management takes keen interest in every activity organised in the college. It is only obvious then to mention that the students get the best in class for every service offered to them. Kudos to the management for the untiring efforts and I am pretty sure that every student who has passed out would have felt the touch of affection and care from them.

All the engineering courses offered at SIT are affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, and offers quality content to learn from. Also, it has to be noted that a degree from VTU is valued all across the globe. Since the Syllabus is constantly revised, it enables you to have a genuine grip on the industry demands. A Typical semester which lasts around 5-6 months will have 3-4 months’ classes. Three Internal examinations will be conducted and the best two scores will be considered. You will have a time gap for roughly two weeks between the end of classes and beginning of the semester exams, which should give you ample time to prepare well for the examinations.

There is a compulsory internship at the end of 6th semester and a Project work in the 8th semester. While the Project puts your skills acquired over the four years into practice, internship gives you a brief exposure into the industry. At SIT, students will be put through seminars, paper-presentations, technical talks and many more activities which will refine you as a graduating engineer. Students often watch out for the week long soft skill sessions, which make them prepared to attend the campus interviews and enhance their soft skills. To Sum it up, the academics really sets up the wings for you to take off.

Faculty if academics gave you wings then, it is the faculty at SIT which helps you constructs those wings perfectly. Every Department is blessed with knowledgeable professors. I would call them Teachers rather, considering the individual attention and care the students get. They are very approachable and are always there to help you out.

Since the college and management always encourages faculty to attend training and workshops, they are always abreast of the recent trends in the field of engineering. As a result, students are guided better for their project works and all round technical development. Even today I am in touch with my teachers, so that should throw some light on the impact these angels create on the students. Overall, it’s a big thumb up to the faculty contingent at SIT.

One of the driving factors for the tremendous growth of the college has been the volume of placements. There is a dedicated Placement Cell, which works round the clock to make this happen. Students get to give mock Interviews, plan the resume, Aptitude tests which tune you for interviews.

I am one such individual who was benefited, while on campus. I explicitly mention on campus, because there has been many instances where the placement cell has found opportunities for students even after the course completion. The college has been consistently bringing in companies including the mass recruiters like Inofsys, TCS, Wipro etc. One scope of improvement can be more opportunities for core branches like Mechanical and Marine. Having said that even core branch folks can still be selected by Mass Recruiters. On an average companies ask for 65% aggregate across semesters, but ensure that u have 65 to 70+ to give you more options. In short if you have an aggregate of 70+, you are most likely to get placed.

Excellent! This one word should be good enough to describe it all. Just to give you further insights, each classroom is a gallery classroom, equipped with projector and sound system, which makes the lectures more enjoyable. SIT is the first college in the region to have a CNC lathe (for mechanical). Also there has been recent investment to acquire a fleet of aircraft for the aeronautical department.

I mean where else can you find this level of investment!!! Of course and the other facilities include a wonderful library (online and offline), well equipped labs, a huge playground, a band of buses, good Hostels, North and South Indian Canteens, a ATM, a photocopy center and what not. On my personal opinion the infrastructure in Mechanical block stands out as a talisman. Make no mistake when I say that... other departments are also equally good. On lighter note, I think only a rocket launch pad is the only missing entity.:)

The campus is a huge canvas in the student’s life. Each colorful memory gets painted as new skills learnt. Along with the staple learning there are lot of extracurricular activities which gets organised and keeps the campus happening. Festivities get on its Zenith during the National Level Fest “Envision”, which gets huge participation.

Another talent hunt which occurs is the “Prathiba” event where student gets to exhibit their cultural talents. It is for sure that you are going to have the highs and lows during the four years, but the campus and its inhabitants are always there to lend you a helping hand.
