I am a student at the College of Agriculture Indra Gandhi Krishi Vishvadaliya, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. It is one of the best agriculture colleges across India and it always ranks under top 20 Agri colleges in India. As my journey started in 2019 when I was in class 11th I decided to go the agriculture college because of my family which owns fields and are active farmers. I developed interest in agriculture from the beginning. I have qualified Chhattisgarh Pre Agriculture Test CGPAT exam and secured rank under 100 so I got the top college in Chhattisgarh. Here you will get best environment for learning about traditional as well as modern agriculture practices with theory and practical both.

For getting admission in Govt. Agri college candidates have to qualify an entrance exam which is Chhattisgarh Pre Agriculture Test CGPAT, it is a state level entrance exam and candidates who qualify the exam get colleges according to merit list in addition also according to merit list other factors like reservation for ST, SC, OBC, Physically Handicap, Farmers’ Family Students, Nakshal Affected Regions, and also Reservations For Girls are provided in addition after admission they also get yearly scholarships. Moreover top scorers of the class or to say top 6 students of the class also get scholarships for their performance.

IGKV is also known for its best professors and researchers. They are very experienced in their respective fields of study and are experts. The best thing about our mentors is that they are having more than 12 to 20 years of teaching experience but still they are attending seminars and other activities for them so they can teach us in a better way. All the professors are scholars of their respective subjects and many have received prizes for their work in research and many are gold medalist. They are very friendly, understanding, and helpful. They guide students and also use native language along with English to make us understand the concepts with crystal clarity. They also use online mode of teaching in the class and also provides PPT, Typed, and Handwritten notes.

Although IGKV has a good name and fame in field of agriculture but it lacks placement opportunities. Only a handful of private companies came for on-campus placement which offers maximum salary of Rs. 25,000 to 30,000 a month. But if you are looking for internships it's a good option for you. If you got an innovative idea college also raises funds for you and also provides specialized training in your field.

Hostel facilities are provided for the students here in the college campus. There are separate hostel for the first years students in order to prevent ragging. Our hostel fee is very cheap approx Rs. 1,200 to 1,700 per semester which includes water, electricity, and Wi-Fi services.

As I described earlier it has the best campus facilities. There are separate departments for different subjects moreover the departments are also divided into sub-departments with each having their department in-charge. Every department is well supplied with its required tools and machineries. Every department in our college has a separate building of its own.

Here you can live your life to the fullest, the campus life is a lot of fun you will get people from all across India with different traditions and cultures. The best thing here is you will get a good competitive environment which will help you to push your limits, grow, and become ready for the professional world. Here as it's the main campus there are many engagement activities, fests, and other activities that are celebrated which teach us a lot and provide a new way of looking at the world for opportunities and development.
