BMSIT was established in 2002. The college is covered with lavish greenery and is about 23 acres. It is recognised by the AICTE and ranks 169 on the NIRF portal. This institution is affiliated to the VTU curriculum.

Admission processes take place through the CET, COMEDK and the MANAGEMENT quota. College management is headed by our principal Dr. Mohan Babu GN. CET and COMEDK admissions take place through merit system only.

I am currently a student of the ECE stream. The cut off varies for different streams. The eligibility for the management quota must cater to 60% in your +2 exams from the physics, chemistry and maths background. For ECE, the CET cut off varies from 6300 for general category and might range up to 20000 for SC AND ST categories. COMEDK ranks might range up to 4500 for the general category and 30000 for the SC and ST categories. Coming to the course, ECE is a versatile course.

The reason why I joined this course is because even if I change my mind of joining a software genre in the later point of time, I will have the freedom to drift from electronics to software. With the increase in the field of robotics and automations, electronics and communication is in great demand. Even in the civil service protocol, ECE finds itself in great interests. This also covers the majors of all the other branches and this is vital. But this does not happen in the other branches as such. Honestly speaking about the expectations, the VTU curriculum didn’t match my expectations. The syllabus is quite old and outdated and does not cater to vocational and technical standards. But if you would want to focus on the pros, our college drives through concepts like Project based Learning, field trips, well maintained laboratories and much more. The subjects on a heavier scale and interesting and some of them are quite dry but that depends on your inclination to the course. Coming to the job aspect, I am a 100% sure about placements with the growing demand and the exposure given by my college and of personal interests. If not for electronics, the software sector is the way to go.

There are about 10 faculty members in my course. Considering there are 6 subjects, with one teacher for each, and two labs pertaining to two lab teachers per lab subject. There are a total of 151 faculty in my college. The average teaching experience ranges from a minimum of 10 years to the sky limits of almost 30 years of experienced outreach. Academic qualifications of faculties are majorly a bachelors, masters and in most of the cases PhD too.

The faculty teaches subjects very ardently and are there to clarify our doubts at all time. They not only stick to the syllabus but take the subject to another level of innovation and deep learning with real time examples and versatility. In spite of being a VTU affiliate institution, BMSIT is one of the finest institutes which keep the students thinking out of the box.

The training and placement cell in our college is remarkable. We have a placement test and coaching which happens every year starting from the first year itself. There is MCQ’s given catering to all the performances required for the placement at the end of the 6th semester.

Considering the ECE placements, the top recruiters include companies like Amazon, Atkins, Bestol, Byjus, CGI, HP, Infosys, Nokia, TCS, Wipro and much more. The highest CTC was given was Rs. 20.60 lacs per annum for the year 2020. Every year there are above 90% people getting into the placements.

The hostel facility is pretty clean and well kept, and there are usually four students per room. The infrastructure and the food is great. There is a separate hostel for boys and girls. The hostel fee per year is Rs. 1,10,000.

The quality of the food is great. We have veg and non veg served. There is a particular order followed by the hostel canteen keeping in mind the nutritional and taste factor, a variety is created. The security is very stringent. However, there is an exemption given if you are late to the hostel due to valid reasons. The peak time for the girls hostel is around 8 PM and for boys it ranges from 9:30 to 10 PM. The hostel wardens are our very own faculty members who cater to listening and sorting out the problems we come across too.

The BMSIT campus stretches around 21 acres of green land. There are three blocks. The academic block, the architecture block and the BSN block. The classrooms are spacious and well ventilated. Each bench can accommodate two students making it comfortable. There are benches placed all around the college. There is a well facilitated parking area. The library is located in the BSN area. The ground floor in the library and the first floor consists of the reading and a reference room with all the VTU prescribed textbooks, magazines, and many other informative books. There is a separate laboratory for every lab subject which is well maintained with upgraded equipments. The labs are always open to cater to the needs of the students. After performing, if there is any doubt, the student can get back later and solve his/her query.

Workshops are conducted on a regular basis in the AV rooms. There are professional workshops too which help us grow technically. We have one auditorium in the basement where all the events take place. It is equipped with a stage and the needed technicalities for a stage setup. There is one small playground and also a sports room. There is also a gym area to which the students have access to. Games like football, cricket, and other events are played in the ground. Indoor games like table tennis, carom, chess and so on are equipped inside the games room. There are three cafeteria areas. The first one being the snack and coffee hub. The second one being the South Indian place and the third one being the pizzeria counter. Food tastes homely and is open during the college hours. The medical support team is on their toes and acts quickly during casualties. There is a separate room for medical assistance and is open for every student during all times.

The overall campus like is a bliss. There are sky high spaces for all round development of the student. The ambience, the staff, the faculty, the students and everything about the college always leaves a good taste in my mouth. The college life is made up of the holistic education which comprises of clubs and activities provided by the college. There are almost thirteen active clubs in the college starting from professional clubs like the computer society of India, robotics club, institute of electric and electronics engineering, institute of electronic and telecommunication engineering, society of automotive engineering and so on.

The other institutional clubs consists of Aero Club, E-Yatra, Akshay Urja Club, Civil Defence Club, Cultural Club, Eco Club, National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme, Photography Club, Rotaract Club, Quiz Club, Public Relations and Media Cell and so on. The scope for human development is enormous if these opportunities are taken. These clubs are active throughout the year and cater to the needs of every student to relish their inner talent.


There are two fests held throughout the year. One being the departmental fests which happen in the odd semester and the other being inter collegiate fest which happens in the even semester. Utsaha is the inter college fest which happens like a festival every year. Many events, celebrities, food and lots of fun is observed during this time. Utsaha is one of the liveliest and one of its best crafted fests which is one of its kinds.
