Adamas University’s Peaceful 100-Acre Green Campus

Adamas University, which is situated in Barasat area approximately 13 kms. From Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. When I took admission here in this campus in 2017, the only thing I knew about this University and that is, it belongs to the RICE Group. I was not done with my research work, hence faced some difficulties in the starting of first year of my college. I was not aware of this fact, that University only focuses on government jobs & also university is extremely popular and having a huge success rate on engineering, law & management department. In 2017, our department i.e. BA & MA Journalism and Mass Communication was not that much on the hype. In fact the day I joined my university i.e. from August 2017 till mid of 2018 we were not being provided with the proper classrooms, our whole batch was roaming here and there in and around the campus when our lectures were not happening. Later on, media department shines bright from 2019, when our new Pro Vice Chancellor, who is from Media Background himself, who is also the dean of our department till date, took some serious steps to grow media in a unique way from all other institutions in our city. At the very beginning of 2020, Adamas University hosted its first official fest which was grand success only just because of this man. Some of the very popular universities in which Adamas University has partnered with are: Far Eastern University, (Manila, Philippines), University of Malaya (Kuala Lumpur), Yale University (New Haven) etc.

So coming to the admission process and all other criteria regarding admission in this university, So when I took admission in 2017, I didn’t given any admission test as I joined little late, so I was done with my basic formalities like filling up the admission form through their portal and then giving advance money so that seat may reserved. Now, the admission criteria is almost same, like For undergraduates one needs to score a minimum of 50% marks in Class XIIth and for Post Graduates one needs to have 50% / above marks in Graduation. College management overall is quite helpful from the starting itself, which I observed very minutely. Each and every problem of student listened very patiently, and try to solve as soon as possible. Be it from Admission to ongoing campus problems during the entire programme tenure. From staffs to academic advisor everyone is very concerned about Student’s problem.

I joined BA Journalism and Mass Communication as my graduation degree in Adamas University. I went with my father for my admission, they directly said that there is no examination which I need to give for my admission as previously it was a new college and it was merit based so it didn't became a problem for me. I was admitted without any test. The first and foremost reason for me joining this institute was its infrastructure, and the lab which they were providing for our practical.

No, the course subjects were not at all as per my expectations. As in the initial period which was my first year I just had one paper of journalism and rest all the papers were of minor subjects. We didn't have any practical in the first year. Taking about second year the overall experience was same as there were just one or two practical classes rest all were theoretical in nature. According to my perception the way they give you training over here for the course, you are not at all ready for job or any industry.

First of all, In Adamas University each and every faculty is quite experienced from their respective fields. In my department, basically it has been segregated into two parts. One is Practical and one is Theory. Theory faculties are much Experienced and each and every one of them is a PhD Scholars. And the other one is Practical (Lab technicians).

Now from media lab technicians, we cannot understand properly the practical things which we wanted to learn from the starting as my department is all about having a field work. And therefore in this scenario, having basic practical skills is much more required in media field.

First of all there is no training given for placement. In the first two years of your college period there is none who will come and ask you about your interest or your placements. Talking about the placement cell, yes they do exist but they are of no use. All you get in the placement cell is a job of call centers or BPOs.

There is not even a single company which is actually known and related to your field which comes for campusing. Not a single student was placed from my batch. All they were given was Call centre jobs at Rs. 10000 or 12000 per month being their salary. So as a whole the placement is not at all good in my college for BA Journalism and Mass Communication students.

Yes, there is a hostel facility provided in my college. As I have mentioned earlier that our infrastructure is just amazing and we have a huge campus. There are near about more than 200 rooms available just for the boys hostel. For the girl's hostel they have two hostels inside the college.

Talking about fees it's quite decent with what they provide as hostel fees is Rs. 21,000 per 6 months. The quality of food is good and they have variety in their food. In a week you get different food items. So food is good. Yes the security is good and available 24*7. You have access to common room, gymnasium and many other sports activities also happens in the hostel. So sum it up hostel is really nice.

Adamas University has a world class infrastructure with a 100+ acres sprawling greenery surroundings which resembles nothing but "PEACE". Each department has been segregated into specific schools and hence each schools having specific Buildings. Like my department was Journalism and Mass communication which is coming under the School of Media, Communication and Fashion. Likewise the same goes with Management Building which has 1-2 departments including a Bank, Placement cell & COE (Controller of Examination). Then Engineering building is divided into 3 parts / sections you can say. Civil, Mechanical and Engineering. After that, there is a School of Law and Justice and of course important one is Admin Building where including admission procedure, one big Auditorium is there with a space of approximately 500+ persons at a time. Media lab is there on the Top floor.

Apart from the respective buildings, campus has three big playgrounds and a Cafeteria where students / faculties / anyone who is attached to the University can have their quality time with their loved ones. Other than that too, with an affordable price there is a Canteen nearby Boy's hostel where one can get a Variety of delicacies from veg to non-veg. Food quality is top-notch and they are maintaining a strict hygiene while serving to each individual.

As we have a very beautiful campus, so the life inside the campus is just amazing. To have a good life inside the campus you need to have good friends and if you have them then the campus is just amazing. There are several clubs related to dance drama, singing and many more. You will have good interaction with everyone including your seniors. You can grow well and work on your skills.

The only fest which Adamas University had was in 2019 which was organised by me. So it was overall a good fest where Palak Muchal was the main artist. It really took a lot of effort to convince the authority of the college for the fest. So don't expect a fest every year it depends upon the authority of the college.
