VIT Chennai does not provide you the college life you’re looking for but that does not mean that you can’t make great memories here. This college is a little too strict with their rules and it can get frustrating sometimes on how they handle things. If you’re a person who likes to hang around on weekends and have fun then this college is not for you, plus Chennai as a city to be honest does not have very much to explore.
Academics are fine. Same as every other place some teachers are good some are okay some can be a bit too much. They keep on taking exams and giving assignments so if you take that as a challenge and you complete your work every day you can easily be already prepared for exams. Things can get tough but if you see it as a part of college life there are a lot of fun perspectives to it.
Faculty is okay. Same as every other place some teachers are good some are okay some can be a bit too much. Just try to take good teachers during your FFCS registration where we are able to make our own timetable and select the teachers we want. Teachers are helpful and can be of great significance when you have to do a project under then in the late semesters.
Placements are good; there are a lot of formalities which you have to go through before you can sit for giving an exam or interview, or even formalities after you’ve done that. But that’s just the way it is now.
Decent hostels, decent mess. Not what you’re expecting but that’s part of hostel life and you’ll come to enjoy it sooner or later.
It’s still a newer university and they’re still doing a lot of construction on campus. The campus size is a bit smaller for the large number of people they take in every year, but you learn to live with it. It's fine it’s not very good not very bad it’s manageable and just works. Labs are good. You can borrow components from labs for your projects which is one good thing the college provides.
Campus life could depend on how you want it. If you’re an outgoing person who likes to enjoy on weekends and do something such as explore maybe, and then this is not the place for you. They have proctors assigned to you which do not allow you to go out every weekend, at least most of them. On the other hand, if you see your weekends as staying in watching movie or just hanging around the small campus with friends then I guess this could be a nice place for you.
My overall experience with my institute is average. Yes, it is because before joining a college every 12th graduate student has this great feeling where the student imagines great things, now this is very common among us because as Indians we will go through some very tough conditions and give the world’s hardest exam and some luckily get their dream college and some don't. Now I am from those who did not get their dream college. Now for me that I have heard from my seniors was "this is a good... Read Full Review
This college is the epitome of strictness and nonsense. They have pretty strict rules regarding hostel, women wear, in-out timings and the academics woes are on the whole another level. Regarding malpractice If you are caught by a ruthless faculty. He will book you for it and you will get a whole semester backlog, which basically means half a year gone waste. Even if you high fever or anything little serious they will not allow you to reappear for the exam you missed because you have to be admit... Read Full Review
My experience at VIT has been good. It is a good college for B.Tech in Computer Science. It provides exposure in the field and focuses on actual learning. Therefore, making it interesting as an individual to study about the subject and focus on self-improvement as well. There are a lot of activities one can do at the college campus as well.... Overall college is good, but you have to work very hard because there are around five thousand students who are also competing with you. Students come from all parts of INDIA, so college is very diverse. Also, you can make many friends and spend your time with them on gazebo (food court). Enjoy your time in college.... Read Full Review
