Fergusson College offers many courses and is located in Pune, India. Its history stretches back to the year 1890. The college’s current campus was established in 1891, on Ferguson College road. Yes, that’s right, we have a road named after our college! Pune may be known as the city of colleges; however, our college is definitely unique in that our campus is spread over sixty acres of land! This college has a rich history of more than 130 years, and there are individuals who attend the college from all around the country. It is one of the first colleges which was sought out for by foreigners. The streams which are offered include both science and arts streams. I am currently pursuing Masters in Psychology, and I can say that this college has provided both faculty and infrastructure for me to have a high quality of education.

This college provides courses in sciences and arts. These include both graduate and post-graduate courses. Academics in this college are of top-notch quality. You don’t have to take my word for it. Every aspect of this college has been planned thoughtfully to provide the best education possible for the students. My teachers as well as the facilities that this college has have helped me do well in my academics. One thing to keep in mind is that this is not like school. Teachers will not come behind you and make you study. If you show interest, the teachers can help you to make the best of your academic years. You can pursue all types of courses aside from the mainstream degrees including certificate courses and vocational courses.

The faculty in this college includes professors from a variety of specialties. From personal experience, I can say that the teachers genuinely care about the students. Most of the faculty have many years of experience. Some of the teachers have even graduated from this very own college and are alumni of the college. This college is one of the best colleges in India, and one of the major reasons for this is the faculty. The teachers help with notes and material so this is helpful when exam time comes around. Recently, the college has become an autonomous one. So, the question papers are set by the faculty. They are somewhat easier than how they used to be.

This college has a placement cell, and it provides placements for the students. Generally, the packages resulting from these placements ranges between four lakhs and nine lakhs. Overall, the college has a good placement rate. One thing that our college provides us with is mock interviews. These help a lot to crack the actual placement interviews because they provide us with some practice. I recommend not missing out on these, as you can build up communication skills when attending these.

Hostel facilities are provided for both female and male students. One nice thing is that they are located on campus itself, so it is easy for students to commute to college. There are six hostels in total. Some of the facilities that are in the hostels include cafeterias, water heaters, vending machines, and a hospital facility. Coming to security, the hostels have security outside of them all day long. Also, they are equipped with cameras around the hostels. The hostels provide a good option for students, and also are cheaper than renting a flat outside. The food is alright at the hostels. There is a curfew time for the people staying in hostels which is 10 pm.

As this college was established over 100 years ago, it recently underwent some renovations. Now, it looks almost as good as new! One of the eye-catching buildings in our college is the library. It has many floors, and you can go there for any of your academic reading as well as reading for fun. There is also an amphitheatre on campus which is used for a variety of events. Apart from this, there is an open theatre which also is a venue for events. If you ever want to grab some breakfast or lunch on campus, you can check out one of the three canteens. They have tasty food and you can order whatever suits your appetite at the time.

Having been a student of this college for graduate and post-graduate studies, I can say that I am happy that I joined this college. There are many extracurricular clubs to take part in, and the education is of high quality. One of the nice things about this campus was the freedom that it allowed. Teachers are not too strict, and they allow the students to be independent. From fests to seminars to lectures, I have truly gotten to experience a good college life.
