Symbiosis Centre For Management Studies or SCMS is one of the finest institutes if you want to pursue BBA. The course has now become a forgotten hero as many commerce students mostly opt for doing C.A., if they are commerce students. I don’t know whether I am earning at par with C.A.’s or less than them but all I know is, I am happy with where I am today and all thanks to SCMC. There’s an entrance test that one needs to appear for if they want to pursue B.B.A. from SCMS. The entrance test is common for various graduate courses in Symbiosis with some sections changed. Thus, if you want to pursue law or mass communication, the entrance is more or less the same. The entrance is not that tough but the number of students appearing for the entrance is huge. Hence, you need to score really well, if you want to get admissions in SCMS or if you have a good balance, you can flaunt some of it by taking admissions in this college.

Digital is the way forward and it was symbiosis that showed every university this way. The college has gone the digital way long back. This is one aspect and the other aspect is the way teaching is done. If I say, Symbi is the best, I know I am not exaggerating. The classrooms, the way studies are conducted and the way the course is designed. The course is divided in 6 semesters lasting 3 years. There are 6-7 subjects every semester and one need to clear all the 36 subjects to get the privileged degree from SCMS. Academic is perhaps the one reason why so many people chase taking admission in this college.

The course is really tough, but it was faculty that made it look simple. The professors were highly professional and made sure that they help the ones who are attentive in the class. Some people did join the college for fun and were subsequently ignored by the teachers as well. This was the best one can expect from the faculty. The faculty gave equal weightage to theory and practical. They also made sure that students are present in the class otherwise they were answerable to the faculty. The faculty was strict and rightly so. There were some 40 professors that I encountered during my course.

The placement was nearly 80% but most of the students opted for higher studies and finally only 50% of them including me took the placements. Since the course teaches business management the companies that came to hire the students included banks and financial institutions. Kotak Mahindra Bank with whom I work presently hired 40 odd students during my batch and all got placed to different locations where they have their branches. The placement cell played a huge role in students getting placed and finally it was the influence of our college that made such huge companies offer the students a decent pay package.

There are 5 girls hostel and 2 boys hostel in the Viman nagar campus of Symbiosis. The hostels are shared between students of 5 Symbiosis colleges. The hostel rooms are huge and are allotted on twin sharing basis. The hostel fees were certainly on the higher side but comparing them with other stay that can you in Pune, it was justified. The hostel also had a mess that offers both veg, and non-vegetarian food options. The rooms had attached bathrooms and each room had bed, mattress, pillow, cupboard, and a study table. The hostel was strict, and smoking was strictly banned in the hostel and college campus.

The college is huge and has facilities like an amphitheatre, auditorium, and gymnasium. Other facilities include a central library that is common for all the institutes. There are playgrounds and students can be seen playing football in the campus. Apart from canteens, there’s also a cafeteria by CCD. The college commands fees higher than many other universities in India but the reputation that the University hold and the kind of facilities that it provides, everything is justified, and one will always be in awe of this college as it is without a doubt one of the best. The college buildings are new and the management make sure that as soon as there are new launches, they make sure that it reaches the Symbiosis campus first.

Since there are many colleges in the same campus, the student’s interaction with various institute students makes the college life at Symbi campus even more fun. The college location is far from the hustle and bustle of the city and therefore making the most of college life was in the college campus itself. The campus life was certainly one that I enjoyed the most. The college is known for giving various models, musician to the industry and thus apart from studies the college has contributed to the arts as well. Thus, if you want to pursue interests other than studies, Symbiosis is an ideal choice.
