Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies BBA Review By Ritik Gadage

Symbiosis Center for Management Studies offers just 1 course and that is B.B.A. The way to college is 50+ score in your HSC exams and clear the entrance test that is mandatory. The management quota exists but the seats are less. Hence, try getting the entry from the main door as the college life at Symbiosis Center for Management Studies will not just amaze you but will also surprise you with the new things that college introduces from time to time. The Viman Nagar campus is designed in a way to give students the utmost exposure as there are various undergraduate institutes in the same campus. The campus became operational in the year 2004 and SCMS was the first institute that started in this campus. Symbiosis is a deemed university and one of the best in terms of parameters that are taken in consideration by rating agencies. This is why I chose this college and grateful that I got the opportunity to learn so many new things during my college time.

The teaching methods are incredible and so is the college building and the classrooms. The classes were held in the morning and therefore we had enough time to play sports in the evenings and the college too encouraged us to do other things as well. However, the college was strict with academics as one is encouraged and praised only if he scores well. Even if you win medals for your college and don’t clear the exams, there were repercussions as one of my classmate was fired from the football team. Studies is college’s top priority and one is free to do anything beyond that but was not allowed to bunk or miss the classes.

Can’t remember the numbers but no professors were repeated in the next semester. Therefore I can imagine some 35-40 professors are there just to look after BBA students. The numbers are huge and can say it from the bottom of my heart that the faculty members were one of the nicest people. The realized that a 45 minutes class is not just for studies and they used to have fun with the students. Never made the classes look boring. These were the innovations that the faculty members at Symbiosis can only imagine because if this is how a college operates no one will ever miss or even plan his day during the college hours. So hats off to our great faculty that kept chasing us until we gave our best.

The placement cell has been put in action for a while now and has made sure that each student has an offer letter. My teachers though advised me to take further studies and therefore didn’t attend the campus placements. There were many top-notch banks and some of the reputed financial institutions manager who came with large hoardings and also hired many students. The pay package was not that great and that is why many students decided to take up higher studies. Well the story is half here as when I enquired about the same apart from one or two more colleges, not a single college in Pune arranges campus placements for their students pursuing B.B.A. SCMS have therefore done a great job and made sure that their students at least get a shot.

The fees are just too high as the rooms are good and have all the facilities but still including hostel and mess it costs over 2 lakhs. There are 2 boys hostels in the campus which are common for all the 6 colleges in the campus. Hostel was a good place to make friends and I did that and 4 of us rented an apartment in Kalyani Nagar the next year and bid adieu to the hostel. No complaints with the hostel building or the facilities but by shedding a few more bucks, you can have a better facility for yourself near the college campus.

The college buildings are well equipped and have all the facilities one can ask for. The campus is huge and accommodates as many as 6 institutes. Many people think there are 5 but there’s an extra called Symbiosis Institute of Design which many are not aware of. The campus is clean and has all the facilities. Auditorium and sports ground were first class. There’s also a health and medical emergency arranged at the campus. There are canteens and one Café Coffee Day in the college campus. Never imagined that you can have coffee outlets in a college campus but anything is possible in Symbiosis.

The college campus where obviously we spend the most of our time during college time. Post college hours gave us the opportunity to interact with students of different students and if one want to see unity in diversity, then don’t go anywhere else other than Symbiosis. In our batch students from 17 states of India were present and 6 foreign nationals as well. It was one of the great experiences and don’t think I can even forget how my days were spent for the 3 most fruitful years of my life.
