Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies BBA Review By Vidhi Bhanushali

It took a lot for me to convince my parents to let me allow going to Symbiosis for higher studies. They denied but after I cleared the entrance test they agreed. The test, mind you is tough and that is the only way to get admissions at SCMS. The college is great, and the best part is that every year students from all across the country and some from different countries too come for studies in this college. Thus, you can imagine how famous the college is. Loved being a part of it and those 3 years were the best that I had in my life. The college initially did give me a feeling of school as no other institute in the campus had a dress code but we did. This did piss me off but at the end of the day it was all worth it.

The only way a college can stay on top is through academics. The college knew this and there was no compromise with the academic part as the attendance was mandatory. The classes lasted for 6 hours in a day and practical sessions were organised for 2 days in a week. The studies are tough but not that tough that one can have havoc at other stuffs. The management encourages students in doing their interest of things but without compromising studies of course. I was leading my college team in the basketball and my practice hours were after college only. No leniency in classes was allowed and you can rate the seriousness that was related to academics in the University.

The faculty was very supportive and always welcomed the doubts or any questions that were entertained in the classes. All the teachers held a great experience as some of them are with the college since last 2 decades by the time the course was incepted in Symbi. The faculty welcomed new ideas with open arms, and I don’t see anything that the faculty didn’t do to help students in whatever way they can. The faculty are backbone and will have to say that University has hired them only after checking their skills as their skill set is unmatched.

During the final semester the internship was organized by the college and placements were inevitable. My parents made sure that they will allow me take placements if I get placed in Jaipur. My friends and the placement cell people were very supportive as I laid condition that if you are impressed with me, kindly offer me job in Jaipur and here I am working as a loan appraiser at Kotak Mahindra Bank in Jaipur. The pay package that I was offered than was good and over the years the numbers are on uptrend. The trend will continue as SCMS has scaled such greater highs that people in Jaipur come and asks me about the success mantra that it takes to be a part of Symbiosis.

The hostel provided by the University played a huge role in me getting to Symbiosis. There are as many as 5 girls hostel and all are near the campus. In girls hostel, you will get a choice to choose between the triple sharing and twin sharing rooms. I stayed in B wing girls hostel which was allotted on twin sharing. Nice painted rooms with all the top facilities make Symbiosis girls hostels the best place in Pune. There are 2 boys hostel as well and are at a far off place from the girls hostel. Sadly the girls hostel curfew time is 9 pm and we have to report before that. However, all these rules only convinced my parents and one shouldn’t bother about anything if you qualify for SCMS.

The college building was awarded the best college building award and the rest is history. The high fees and all the money that college charge is returned to the students in the form of providing them a safe and sound environment. There are as many as 20 guards at the campus and in my 3 years, I never witnessed a single fight inside the campus and the management should be credited for that. Among the facilities there were messes, canteens, cafeteria, auditorium, library, and playground of highest standard in the campus. I can boast as much about the infrastructure as it is indeed the best.

For the first semester, it was hostel to college and vice-versa. Things changed soon and I started enjoying my college life once I made friends as all the students were accommodating and there was nothing in the campus that intimidated me during my stay at the campus. The facilities that were in line were best to none. The teaching staff was of highest standard and don’t know that was there even a single thing that I can complain about. The college life gave me more than I expected and same was the case with many of my friends. I just relived my memories writing this review and hope you experience something that is worth remembering. My life at SCMS was one such experience for sure.
