Located in Kolkata, West Bengal, Aliah University is a State University and it was established in the year 2008. It was previously known as Calcutta Madrasah or Mohammedan College of Calcutta and it is approved by UGC & AICTE.
The University is recognised by Indian Nursing Council (INC), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), and West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC). It is also a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and accredited by NAAC. The University has set up around 3 campuses in Kolkata namely, ‘New Town’ (main), ‘Park Circus’, and ‘Taltala’.
Aliah University Kolkata is famous for offering Islamic studies with modern education mainly in Engineering, Technology, and Science field. Around 50 courses are offered at the University at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctorate level. At the University, B.Tech is the most prominent course and admissions are done on merit basis. Students have to pay Rs. 13,537/- as yearly fees. In the year 2024, students from the B.Tech course have secured a highest and average package of 9 LPA & 3.9 LPA, respectively.
There are around 23 academic departments that run under the University to offer programs and some of them are Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Department of Nursing, Department of Economics, Department of Law, Department of Biological Sciences, Department of Management and Business Administration, and several others.

Admission Process
The admissions in the University’s courses are done in online mode and students can fill the application form through its official website. Seats are filled on the basis of merit that includes performance in the qualified examination and AUAT or State / National level entrance test. Eligible students have to appear for the offline counselling process.
* International students can also fill the Aliah University admission forms.
Reservation Criteria & Seats Allocation
The University has reserved seats under Person with Disability (PwD) category and to get eligible for the same, physically challenged students should have at least 40% disability. In addition to this, 4% seats are reserved under all courses and 5% for Nursing programs. Few of the seats are allocated to the students belonging to Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Under the B.Tech program, 20% of the seats are reserved for students who have cleared WBJEE (allocated on merit-basis).

The University has set up a Training and Placement (T&P) Cell at the campus to provide assistance to the students in choosing a suitable career option that comes with growth opportunities. T&P Cell is managed by a Training & Placement Officer (TPO). The cell has built industrial relationships with several companies and invites them for the Aliah University Placement drives in order to provide job opportunities to its students.
Following activities are organised by the cell to ensure that students are equipped with the ongoing industrial skills:
