The Rajarajeshwari Dental College and Hospital in Bangalore offers professionally-oriented BDS, MDS, Ph.D., and certificate programs. This dental college was set up in 1992 under the aegis of Moogambigai Charitable and Educational Trust. Sri A. C. Shanmugam, a renowned erstwhile parliamentarian, took the initiative of establishing the educational trust in 1992.
This dental college and hospital were primarily founded to furnish superlative dental education to students, regardless of their socioeconomic background. The academic journey of Rajarajeshwari Dental College and Hospital started with only 40 students who had registered for BDS course. Initially, the college operated out of a rental premises.
Since then the dental college and hospital have progressed rapidly admitting 100 students for BDS and MDS programs. The institution offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses covering all specializations related to dental surgery. Additionally, RRDCH offers Ph.D. programs in Periodontology and Orthodontics and a diploma program in Implantology.
All courses offered by RRDCH have the recognition of RGUHS (Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences), Bangalore. Dental Council of India (DCI), Government of India, and the Government of Karnataka have also approved the college’s programs. National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has also awarded accreditation to the college.
The founder chairman of Rajarajeshwari Dental College and Hospital has been instrumental in incepting several other medical institutes in Bangalore. These institutions include the Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital, Rajarajeshwari College & School of Nursing, and Rajarajeshwari College of Engineering. RRDCH’s mission is to become a renowned dental academy reputed for offering value-oriented academic programs and state-of-the-art facilities for research.
And the establishment’s vision is to make available world-class teaching and learning facilities at UG, PG, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels.
The air-conditioned library of Rajarajeshwari Dental College has a vast collection of more than 6,000 books pertaining to dentistry. At the same time, the library stocks over 90 international and national magazines that help students to stay updated. The learners can also access a wide variety of e-journals and digital resources via Helinet.
A spacious indoor auditorium comes in handy for holding workshops and seminars on a regular basis. The ACS Convention Center allows the college to organize major events including conferences, convocations, and cultural shows. Every classroom contains advanced teaching and learning aids, allowing students and teachers to interact effectively.
Students can take advantage of a full-fledged gym for keeping themselves physically fit and mentally active. The medical college has good facilities for indoor and outdoor sports. One can participate in numerous outdoor sports format including cricket, volleyball, basketball, football, and so on.
The auditorium which can seat 350 spectators serves as the venue for numerous cultural and social programs. The sports teams of RRDCH have won several tournaments and competitions not only in Bangalore but also outside the city. The medical college authorities maintain a large fleet of buses chiefly for the convenience of non-resident students and teachers.
The buses ply on different routes in the city as well as the suburbs.
