MICA - The School of Ideas Hostel Fees: Rooms, Food & Rules, Ahmedabad

I have already stayed at a star hostel and MICA hostel was shimmy in comparison to those. The first-year hostel rooms were small and we still had to share those. No lockers were provided in the room and even though nothing got stolen, girls do wear gold and having a locker always helps. In the second year the new lady's hostel had individual rooms, so even though there were no lockers, at least we were sure that room was ours and nobody could enter without permission. There was a lot of disparity as first-year students are allotted a hostel which is below par a B-School hostel. Palash girls hostel where I spent my first year, didn't have attached washrooms and also no washing machine was provided. All the students put together a few bucks and got a washing machine because that is essential. The second-year student hostel was much better than that of the first year hostel. Single or double room as per your pocket, you can choose. The hostel had attached washrooms, which was the biggest issue, and then comes the food part. I am not a big fan of Gujarati food but at MICA, South Indian food was available almost daily. Idlis were always an option for breakfast, so my day always started well. Hostel was a bit up and down comparing both the years, but as they all well, that ended well. I had a great time at the hostel, staying with girls from various parts of India.Read Full Review

MICA hostels were great as first-year students had to stay at Parijat or Palash hostels, both of which had sharing rooms. Each student is provided a table, chair, bed and a cupboard to store the stuff. The hostel building was of two floors and had 14 rooms on each floor. Both Palash and Parijat hostels had common washrooms and we had to deal with that in the first year. In the second year, we had to the newest hostel with attached washrooms or the Silver Oak hostel. Both of them had almost similar Infrastructure. A single room with attached washrooms and water coolers and washing machines on each floor made life so easy for us. Hostels had a library and a discussion room which were open all night.Read Full Review
