After my graduation, I took a year drop to prepare for entrance exams. I entered a B-School that had the best set-up to train and educate students about communication and strategic management. The education and extra-curricular activities at MICA brings in a perfect balance. From a student point of view, MICA has done a great job in all fairness, as when anything was asked they have answered it all. Faculties are the captain of the ship at MICA and they have done well to make sure that most students from here take the College name forward. The only way they can do that is by getting placed in top companies and taking those organizations forward. My review might look like I am a fan of MICA, of which there are many, but my outing at MICA has been great. I got to learn the best possible way. I got to get thoughts from the best professors. I had a great time at the campus and finally had the best possible placements. So, excuse me if I don't complain, but say that MICA is excellent.
Academics were 10 on 10 and that because of what I saw. There were no areas of concern as even after attending 20 lectures in a week, a guest seminar every week, 2 workshops and three to four practicals, the professors would still say, you know what, we have been slow. To make students efficient was the mojo of authorities here. Studies were a long roar as right from the third semester, we saw students staying in their rooms for most part. The Institute has so many options because the program being a residential program, we used to have some classes post-dinner too.
By any stretch, I don't see a single issue with the faculties. Yes, I felt bad when they didn't like my presentations; I felt bad when they continued the classes after the designated hours. I felt bad when they took us on tours, but when I see all this by putting myself in their shoes, I get all my answers. When I thought, ok, they have done their best; a new best from them would come up. They knew how exactly to take us away from the tough situation and kudos to them for that. For all those who think management studies are easy, as MBA students are seen enjoying. I would urge them to live life a little extra ordinary in a B-School for a week and then judge.
Placements were great not because of the numbers that keep growing for the umpteenth time every year. We get placed for the expertise that we had and that too in organizations like Google, HUL, Axis Bank, and Siemens. I could name four as these were the four who offered me placements. I was an average student and had four offers. Most students had the autonomy here to choose the company they wanted, as there were organizations from almost all sectors. I worked for HUL during projects and they were ready to hire me without asking much during the interview. Hence, my loyalties remained with them; and as soon as I had an offer from them, I grabbed it with both hands.
MICA hostels were great as first-year students had to stay at Parijat or Palash hostels, both of which had sharing rooms. Each student is provided a table, chair, bed and a cupboard to store the stuff. The hostel building was of two floors and had 14 rooms on each floor. Both Palash and Parijat hostels had common washrooms and we had to deal with that in the first year. In the second year, we had to the newest hostel with attached washrooms or the Silver Oak hostel. Both of them had almost similar Infrastructure. A single room with attached washrooms and water coolers and washing machines on each floor made life so easy for us. Hostels had a library and a discussion room which were open all night.
The Infrastructure is 10 on 10, no not because of ACs which were not there, but every single thing other than that has made the campus look like a paradise. Libraries were efficient and the whole campus was connected with the internet. The computer lab was equipped with all the required software. The playground, which looked like hanging in the lap of nature, was the best part of the campus.
At the MICA campus, every other student had diverse inclinations and came from diverse backgrounds. The men and women ratio was almost equal and every program like singing, dancing, or playing a skit, was done in tandem. MICA to me was an exploratory journey which brought many new things to my life. Every day I woke up I knew I was up for something new and that part never let me miss home too.
After failing to get admissions in my desired Colleges like IIMs, NMIMS, Symbiosis and others, the best choice I had was ‘MICA’. The combination of academics and extra activities made life so simpler as staying away from home for so long was not ideal in my books but MICA hardly gave me, or rather anyone, that sort of opportunity. It rather presented opportunities that made learning imposing and took my confidence to a level on which I never imagined. The professors here were the best strike... Read Full Review
I had to go out on a limb, actually, and I am saying that if you have missed out on IIMs, Symbiosis, XLRI, or Jamnalal Bajaj, then don't search for any other options but choose 'MICA'. MICA is a Business School whether I take into reckoning all the above-mentioned Colleges. MICA plans its yearly schedule in such a way that students have enough me-time along with studies. There will always be little pain for students in B-Schools because passing is never ideal in a B-School. I came from Bengaluru... Read Full Review
MICA has different PGDM courses and has specialization for some streams for which they award students PGDM degrees. Media and Entertainment management was the popular program or should I say is the most popular program. Mine was advertising and brand management. SCMHRD was also an option considered which for sure is a far better institute than MICA but admissions in SCMHRD is as tough as anything. Industry exposure was great at MICA as Ahmedabad being the second largest cities of the west had ma... Read Full Review
At MICA, I loved to learn and by the end of it I was helpless but to love the institute like nothing else. The specialization courses that MICA offers are offered by no other B Schools in India and that is why students from top metros come and study at this college. I wanted to do specialization in Market Research and I don’t think any other institute can provide a better opportunity to learn other than MICA. Institute also makes sure that they make you ready for the job profile that we need a... Read Full Review
MICA which was a mass communication school has today become one of the best B schools in the country. MICAT score will give you an entry to the college. If I begin with a reality check every B-School in the country promises a great placement. Most of the reports though are fudged. Yes, MICA is below IIMs but nonetheless better than many. The highest package during our batch was some Rs. 35 lakhs and the lowest was around Rs. 6 lakhs. The placement record was not 100% but only a handful of them f... Read Full Review
