As I was new in the world of Journalism and choosing Mass Communication course at School of Broadcasting and Communication was the ideal decision. This course gave a brief idea of basic media studies. An individual who has completed bachelors can only pursue masters in Mass Communication. If someone graduated from Journalism background, then they have higher chances of selection. Courses are categorized in three departments which are communication, Journalism and advertising. Online application form is available that can be filled out for admission as per department chosen. In terms of the process of examination, they happen every semester i.e. 8 times throughout your course. A lot of things go in advertising business and for that subjects like promotion planning, advertising theory, and brand communication were taught to us. Well, accountancy is also required and therefore extra classes for advertising accounting management were organized for us. In skill sets, we were taught how to get through consumer behaviors. Our course prepared us directly for managerial profiles. We had to work on case studies to understand the challenges in doing promotions and developing strategies. The latest topics were also included in out subject such as international advertising and media technology. So, academics here were something else because it was about the institute and not just the classrooms of the institute that we learned from. Going to editing labs, and print lab and doing creative things and then taking feedbacks of the experts is how our education was done at SBC.

My previous institute Sophia College taught me the subjects and SBC allowed me to have practical applications of all that as the college had so many labs to learn from. SBC helped in developing various skills that were required to build a career in journalism. Broadcasting techniques are so complicated that spending 6-7 hours in college were simply not enough. Luckily my parents gave me freedom and I used to spend as long as I wanted to be in the college. Since broadcast journalism enticed me the most, I chose that and we were taught how journalists do their researches and then report their respective news channels, web portals or radio. We worked closely with all of those to understand all of it. All, in all, SBC helped me develop skills such as reporting, writing, and video productions.
