NIT Sikkim Campus: Photos, Virtual Tour

Since the campus of NIT Sikkim is temporary, so the overall infrastructure is not that good if we compare it with other institutes. But I'm pretty sure that the new campus will have awesome infrastructure and the students who will get into new campus should consider themselves lucky.

Many events are organized by the clubs of the campus frequently at Multipurpose Hall for fun and to lighten up the mood of academically stressed students. These are the platforms to showcase your skills and to learn many soft skills that are not taught in the books. One cultural fest, ‘Udgam’ and one Technical fest ‘Abhiyantran’ is organized by the Institute every year which is the perfect time for every individual to be themselves and have fun as well as to learn many new things.Read Full Review

As it is a temporary campus, the building is also temporary. It is located in a very remote place and there is only one restaurant named khacho in front of campus where you will get some good food but a bit costly. Market is also very far away to get basic everyday needs. You have to order everything online which takes about 5-7 days to come. Zomato or swiggy is not available here and taxi fair for market is also very high.

If you are from plains, it will be difficult for you to adjust here and it will take a lot of time to adjust. Some people quit and end up leaving the college but if you sustain, it will be one of the memorable experiences for your life. The institute is under-constructed. There are lots of things to be improved yet as the institute is operating from its temporary campus. The institute will provide you with all the necessary facilities like hostels, Wi-Fi, playground, smart classes, labs, badminton court, volleyball court, and MPH. Interesting thing is that the NIT Sikkim is home to Param Kanchenjunga Supercomputer.

There are so many active clubs and cells in the institute including Entrepreneurship Cell, etc. There are also many departments and clubs like Devcans, Anuvrat, & Tantrika. The institute also has literary clubs like Regnant Ink where you can learn lots of things as a part of co-curriculum. It hosts both cultural and technical fest once a year named as ‘Udgam’ and ‘Abhiyantran’ respectively. In B.Tech, around 160 students get admission in a year. There are almost 600-650 students in the campus.
