NIT Sikkim is not just like any other institutes if you're from plain areas. Many students who come from plain area face many difficulties in adjusting here as the weather changes at least 2-3 times a day. But there is plus point in this too, i.e., you get to view the fantastic view of mountains, the clouds and beautiful sky which you can't get to see in plains. The campus is temporary so the accommodation is not as good as there are 4-5 persons in one room. Once you adapt to the environment of the institute and its surroundings, then it is very easy to pass 4 years of your institute with lots of memories as well as experiences. (If you can survive in NIT Sikkim, then you can live anywhere in the world).

I'm a Computer Science student, so talking about academics I can say that those who're very good at Coding and Logic Building will not face any kind of problems here. I faced many problems in academics at first due to lack of interest in the starting but now, I'm enjoying the topics which are taught.

The faculties of my department (CSE) are very supporting as well as understanding to be very honest. If you frequently talk to them, share them your problems, be it personal or studies related, they will be like friends and a very good guide who listen to us when we need them.

Since the campus of NIT Sikkim is temporary, so the overall infrastructure is not that good if we compare it with other institutes. But I'm pretty sure that the new campus will have awesome infrastructure and the students who will get into new campus should consider themselves lucky.

Many events are organized by the clubs of the campus frequently at Multipurpose Hall for fun and to lighten up the mood of academically stressed students. These are the platforms to showcase your skills and to learn many soft skills that are not taught in the books. One cultural fest, ‘Udgam’ and one Technical fest ‘Abhiyantran’ is organized by the Institute every year which is the perfect time for every individual to be themselves and have fun as well as to learn many new things.
