NIT Sikkim

NIT Sikkim is not just like any other institutes if you're from plain areas. Many students who come from plain area face many difficulties in adjusting here as the weather changes at least 2-3 times a day. But there is plus point in this too, i.e., you get to view the fantastic view of mountains, the clouds and beautiful sky which you can't get to see in plains. The campus is temporary so the accommodation is not as good as there are 4-5 persons in one room. Once you adapt to the environment of the institute and its surroundings, then it is very easy to pass 4 years of your institute with lots of memories as well as experiences. The campus is temporary and located in a remote place which has pros and cons. If you want a distraction free environment then this is a best option for you but if you have travel sickness then don't opt for this as it takes 4 hrs from Siliguri in car or bus to reach here and there is no other option. All branches are good except the civil branch. As the batch strength is low. Teachers focus on every student and are very supportive in terms of internship. There is not much coding environment but seniors and teachers will guide you for internships and placements. But it is quite difficult to adjust in Sikkim's environment as it is too cold in nov-feb time and also a lot of rainfall in rainy season and also problem of leeches and insects which you might have never seen in your life. But at the end, it teaches you to be tough. So, if you want adventurous college life, you can opt for this. But better would be you take another year drop and prepare or go for other colleges in cities.Read Full Review

The overall experience at NIT Sikkim is nice. The scenery of the campus is good as Mt. Kanchenjunga is visible from the campus. The environment of the institute is excellent as professor and seniors are very helping in nature, not only in terms of academic but also in terms of non-academic issues or worries. One thing that is very nice about the professors are very supportive so make most of it, if you got admission at the institute.Read Full Review
