Located at Madurai, Tamil Nadu, the Thiagarajar College was established in 1949 under the aegis of the Kalaithanthai Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar Memorial Trust. It was later granted Autonomous status in 1987.
The College is affiliated with the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), Madurai and recognised by UGC and the Government of Tamil Nadu. It is also accredited by NAAC.
The College is popular for imparting student-centric education to the students. The Thiagarajar College Madurai owns around 14 academic departments; some of these are English, Economics, Business Administration, Chemistry, and the list goes on with several others.
Approximately 79 courses at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Doctoral, Diploma, and Certificate levels are available at College. Admission to these courses is granted to the students at a budget-friendly fee structure.
