REVA University BCA Review By Bijal Shah

I joined the college in 2015 and had no idea that this can actually be a nightmare. In terms of facilities, yes the university is great but otherwise pathetic is all I can say. The university is bothered only about how to make money. The university lured us with the hoardings that we will provide 100% placements and trust me not even 10% students got the placements. The college for my knowing is still a work in progress and error and trail has been a common symptom for them. The worst part of the college is its intake facility as every year nearly 5k new students join this college. Yes the college has enough infrastructure to accommodate them all but quality is something that college should focus on. There are already many such universities in Bangalore that can be referred as hotels rather than universities. If you literally don’t have any options left then only join this college otherwise it’s better to stay away.

On academic parameters REVA University Bangalore has done tremendously well in setting up the facilities. Little do they know that it’s the professors at the college that build an academic structure. The classrooms are huge and it has to be to accommodate over 100 students in a class. The labs and every other teaching room are as big as the college has not been tight fisted while building the college. The University is now nearly 7 years old and its time they start looking at academics part of the University seriously.

Almost all the faculty members that have been handed the opportunity to conduct lectures are fresher or at max hold 3-4 years of experience. They have gone to some Universities and have hired the fresher’s M. Tech, and MCA students. The University maybe didn’t have any option as the strength of the University has obviously made them go for quantity. The ratio of teachers against student is high and apart from this there is no positive about the faculty.

Out batch had 700 students and the number of students who got placed is not even 100. Due to the reputation of the college many companies did came but they were doing their job of attending the University for fun. Not just B.C.A. but for any course the result was same. I knew I will have to do further study only then I will have an opportunity for placements. Please don’t get lured by meaningless ads that the college gives because the placement of this college is very slim.

The hostel of the Reva University is unimaginable. There are 4 boys and I don’t remember the exact numbers of girls hostel. The hostel buildings were humongous. The hostel rooms were like home as they have attached bathrooms and RO water facility in all student rooms. Solar water heating has been installed at the hostel residency. There is also a tutorial room in the hostel and the hostel residency is divided into single sharing, twin sharing and four students sharing. The fees of course is as per the occupancy. Like single occupancy will cost more and sharing with will cost less. There is also a huge mess for hostelites. The mess provides breakfast to dinner and 4 meals to be exact to the students staying in University residency. Each floor has warden and there’s no escaping after 9pm for boys hostel and I guess it was the same for girls hostel as well. The hostel facility is certainly the best that you will find.

This is where college scores the highest. Reva University is spread across 45 acres and is full of green grass. The University has a separate library building and is huge. Trust me you will hardly find students in the library. The University has an international sized ground that is used for Football and Cricket. The indoor sports center has a good gym and many indoor sports facilities. The University has also appointed coaches for respective sports. This has become common in many universities but the University has spent generously in building the sporting facilities at the campus. There are 2 canteens, one cafeteria and one bakery in the campus. It is safe to call the Reva University campus a food court as I don’t know any other college where you will have a bakery inside the campus. Well, the infrastructure of the University is not just great but excellent.

There are many clubs in the campus for respective departments. During the second year I knew that I will pass my exams anyway so why not try my hands on other things. The college hosts annual event and that is the biggest that you will see. With nearly 1000 students participating and the event lasting for 3 days was one of the best experience at the Reva University campus in an otherwise dismal experience.
