IILM University MBA Review By Swati Dwivedi

I was a student of this institution of 2016-2018 batch. I will give a short and crisp review of the college. Talking about Academics, the college has the best infrastructure and Delhi University colleges should learn from IILM. The qualified professors help students with their knowledge that they have collected from their experience. Not just academics, but students are groomed for the working style of corporate. Institute has one of the most dedicated placement cell that you will ever find. Attitude and communication are 2 aspects that drives placement and sharpening both the skills is where the college is specialized in. Workshops were an integral part of learning at the college and that is where we got all our training. A number of career clubs that ranged from cultural clubs, sports clubs to financial clubs were student-led clubs at our helm at the campus. I got a lot of learning at IILM and above all the gender sex ratio at the college was balanced. As a girl it is important to share this as many B-Schools have boys dominating the numbers.

The hi-tech classrooms and the air-conditioned classrooms made it quite enjoyable. The class timings were from 10am to 6pm. The learning was if advanced level as practicals were preferred more over theory classes. More than the syllabus books it was the mentoring sessions that were of great help. The institute’s mentoring program has been its speaking point as every students at the campus is assigned a mentor who work on sharpening the skills and most focus was on communication skills. The competitions were held among the students and during inter-college competitions, IILM successfully defeated many known colleges of Delhi.

All the faculty members have past experience of working in the corporate. They know the requirements of the outside world and shared all their experiences with us. The workshop was designed by our faculty members in the best possible way and the teams were divided with boys and girls in each team. It was our professors who made us open as in the corporate world we will be working without sex biased ness. The faculty members not just helped with the syllabus but I used to put up any question to them and they never avoided answering that.

PGDM had 180 students during our batch and if I am not wrong all of us had the placement offer. My parents didn’t allow me but I had one offer which I was forced to reject. During the summer vacation of final semester we were compulsorily sent to work as an intern with some of the reputed firms and it was during this time I got the opportunity to work with Nestle. The average salary that was offered was in the range of Rs. 40-50k per month. Companies like Nestle, HUL, E&Y, Deloitte, Gartner and Mahindra were the top companies that joined the campus placement week. The way students are groomed at the college, the students of IILM are bound to excel in their careers.

IILM has a girls hostel in the campus and the boys hostel is outside the campus. The girls hostel is at 10 metres distance from the admin block. All the hostel rooms are air-conditioned and have all the facilities that one can have in their rooms. The common area had induction cookers, TV area, and chairs. The room has attached washrooms. On each floor of the hostel, there are iron tables, RO water purifiers, and washing machines. The girl’s hostel has nearly 3-4 guards rounding and also the whole hostel is under CCTV. There are 2 wardens in the hostel who come and check twice. All the information that I have provided is about the girl’s hostel as I have no idea about the boy’s hostel.

The college is located at the Golf course road in Gurgaon and has 5 buildings in the college. Where three are admin blocks and 2 hostel buildings. The area in which the college is spread across in 4 acres. The college has a library like any other college but one difference is that it is digital and as a student we were given access to the library even if we are not at the campus. Yes, the library is digital. The classrooms I have already mentioned. The campus is green and has a lot of open areas. Just between the admin block and the girl's hostel, there’s a cafeteria that serves some of the best starters. There is a small field where students used to play in between breaks. A gym was also in place but I hardly saw anyone entering the gym.

Studying in a co-ed college after being a part of all-ladies College for my graduation was a different experience. The team spirit and team work’s importance was the biggest takeaway at the campus. All the students come from a cultured background and thus there no nuisance ever create during my batch for sure. We represented our institute at various college-level competitions and the college backed us to do well. We never felt any pressure or faced any difficulty during my time at the institute. For students who want to step out and learn something new, IILM is definitely a great place to be at.
