SD College is a dream destination for the people living anywhere in the world. You will find majority of people from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, Jammu, U.P, Mohali, Chandigarh, etc. The student ratio includes more number of girls than boys. The crowd is very friendly and amiable. Everybody seems nice and kind. The college is affiliated to Punjab University, and the curriculum works according to the university norms and procedures. The college is located at a focal centre within the market and surrounded by markets from all sides. The college provides many opportunities and services for the students.

The course is B.Sc. Hons. Biotechnology, which is an underdeveloped field in India, but a rapidly and growing field in abroad. The course deals with various subjects and practical information. It includes maths, fundamentals of computer and languages, biotechnology, biology, microbiology, and English. The eligibility involves 50% aggregate marks in PCM or PCB field from a recognised board school. The list is released every year regarding the admission process. The course is very great and has great scope.

The faculty is very commendable and friendly. They are well educated and hold Ph.D degrees. The teachers are well educated and come daily and on time. The style of teaching involves both smart class and white board methods. The different teachers of different courses are present like vocational and degree courses.

The Placement Cell of the college is appreciable. High tech companies like Pfizer, IDFC Bank, and other comes in the campus for placements. Deloitte holds an important position for the placements. The average package holds between 20,000 to the highest being 60,000 to a lakh.

The hostel life is very fun and enjoyable. The hostel has separate facilities for both boys and girls. The basic necessities like food, washing facilities, almirahs, beds, bathrooms, etc. are well maintained and well furnished. You have to apply for hostels during the admissions. The cost revolves around 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh.

The infrastructure is highly appreciable. The labs, sports grounds, library, reading room, auditorium, mini auditorium, and other facilities are provided by the college. They are well maintained and took care of and are reviewed every year. The college has separate blocks and buildings for the science, economics, and arts departments.

The college holds many fests, festivals, clubs, activities, and extracurricular activities. The college holds an annual fest Virasat involving various fashion show, dance, and singing shows and other engaging activities. The canteen has lavish food with Nescafe facilities. The crowd is very friendly and well educated.
