Sharda University B.Tech Review By Abhijeet Kumar

I am in my second year at Sharda University and enrolled in the B.Tech program. My university has given me so many memories in just one year. For an engineering student, there is no doubt that this is the best college in Greater Noida for not only study engineering but also apply what you learn. There is loads of room for innovation and just this year many of our engineering students were chosen for ‘Sharda Launchpad’. This platform gives students to launch their own startup so if you have an idea you can just submit it to the team and if you get selected then not only you will receive funding but also round the clock mentoring along with opportunities to collaborate with companies who are in similar fields. So there are tons of opportunities for budding startups. Also, the atmosphere in the engineering block is quite good and the block is always buzzing through activities of all sorts like dance, students testing out their new inventions and participating in different innovative competitions. Also if you are a fan of movies there are several movies and series that are being shot here like Engineering Girls etc. The campus is lush green and equipped with high-speed internet throughout the campus. Sharda University is located in Knowledge park which is 10 minutes away from the main market Jagat farm.

Some of the finest professors from across the country teach us here and they give us lots of opportunities to learn in the class and outside. The University is quite strict on the attendance issue and follows all guidelines of UGC so if you have attendance less than 75% in a subject you will get debarred in that subject. Teachers are quite strict on this but say if you are participating in any competition within the university or outside then they can show a little leniency towards you. Try to be good in the eyes of professors as they will be the ones to check your answer sheet and don't indulge yourself in unnecessary arguments. Most of the professors are experienced as well as young so they are quite flexible in teaching styles. You will get regular assignments and projects to work on with a deadline.

As the professors are quite skilled and knowledgeable so you won’t lack in this department although there is one offset that you won’t get all the good professors of all the subjects. So Be vigilant about it so that your main subjects don't suffer. You can always request the department to change the professor but don’t do this alone as that will mark you. Try to be wise about it and gather as many people as you can. All the teaching faculty have taught in different reputed universities and some of them are just trying to gather experience here. So try to make the most out of the good faculties while they are there. As normally we do get our faculty replaced by new ones but that happens once or twice only throughout the year.

Sharda University Placement rate is quite decent so if you're doing well in class and have gathered practical skills throughout your college years then chances of getting placed are pretty high. I am saying this based on collaborations that the university has which is more than 250 with national and international tie-ups. So the university must be doing something right in this area. Teaching Faculty also motivate you to do well in college and keep giving you advice on how to grab internship offers but they do this only for the good students who are doing well in the college. There are more than 300 recruiters and the highest package that we heard a student got was Rs. 65 lakhs. It is listed on the website also. Student live projects and corporal meets are a part of all this. Our Placement cell works rigorously to get students placed in MNCs too. So it’s not an alien fact to us that someone got placed with a high package.

Sharda University hostels are a world in itself you can enjoy the campus round the clock and the food is good enough it’s not like home food but its edible especially try to catch the breakfast and dinner as they are tasty and nutritious. Food in the afternoon is generally not that good. This also depends on the type of hostel you choose as you got three options according to your pocket. You can choose either Air-conditioned rooms or Normal Rooms depending upon your budget. Also, you get snacks during the evening with tea so try to be on your feet for that as they are tasty so they end faster. So if you hurry you can eat them hot coupled with the tea. The hostel comes with all the basic facilities you have the option to choose to take rooms with attached bathrooms or shared bathrooms outside. The facility hot and cold water is available depending upon the seasons. High-Speed wi-fi is available so you don’t have to worry about that round the clock.

Sharda University buildings are quite modern although there is always some kind of construction going on in one area or another. Still, most of it is finished. You get your own Sharda Hospital in case of any Health-related problems or any Medical emergency. The University has lifts and you get to experience tall buildings and Iron Bridges in some parts connecting one part to another. The library is available for different branches as of now our library has large collections of subject related books. If you are a fan of novels then this library won’t be of any help to you. But I have seen novels of all kinds in libraries of different branches so you can always grab a book from there. New libraries have also popped up too so be on the lookout for those.

Sharda University campus is beautiful and has quite a nice crowd with students from different countries too. The campus is spread over 65 Acres and has large grounds for football, cricket, Volleyball and six courts of basketball alone which is a popular game here after football. There are lots of clubs with activities and events happening around the year. The annual college fest “Chorus” is the major attraction for music fans as many popular singers have come in the past festivals. DJs from around the world also come to entertain students as it's a 3-day festival. During this time campus is buzzing with events and competitions to participate and win exciting prizes. If you are good looking you can also be part of the movies and advertisements that are shot at Sharda University. Also, there is a canteen/ Restaurant present to celebrate your birthday and throw parties. Aside, from this, there are food carts or small shops throughout the campus to get your favorite food, Snacks and shakes etc. They are costly though so try not spent too much there and get the gate no. 4 where just outside the gates is favorite and affordable eating options are available. The University campus gives you a fast life so try to be ahead and don't get lost in the fun only.
