LPU MBA Review By Aniket Saini

LPU is ranked as a top university on various fronts and after spending 3 years in Chennai, I actually regretted why I went that far. The reason for that is that LPU University has garnered many negative reviews but all of them are not true. It’s the largest single campus University as all the courses are in a same campus and the size of the campus is over 2 kms in whole. It is unfortunate the people of Punjab themselves spread the rumors that LPU is black-listed and it’s not worth but I will paint the reality because there are not many private Universities in Punjab like they are in south. Lovely Professional University is the best when it comes to infrastructure and reasonable in studies and the same process for admission like other colleges. The University also has a talent hunt club and if you have any talent out of which you want to make a career from, you can as the University has singing, acting, modeling and dancing clubs inside the college campus itself.

I wasn’t a part of the regular MBA but my specialization MBA in tourism and hospitality management. You will have to clear LPUNEST or a decent percentile in CAT or other entrances are considered. After the admission process is done which is lengthy, the college appoints counselor who helps students get accustomed to the college. The course I chose was quite different as hospitality management requires certain skills and we had skill management related subjects and practicals too were on the same token.

To teach MBA all the faculties were hired from the top Indian B-Schools. Most of them were from IIM and were vastly experienced. The total number of LPU faculty is 4000+ and I am not saying it for the sake of saying but there were those many faculty members. The faculty and staff members were pretty helpful and were also available for help even after the college hours. The faculty members never compromised with the quality teaching and were impartial as they treated each one of us with equal warmth. I am still in touch with some of them and have also invited them to my food-joint which I started after completion of my course from the University.

Most of the students who come in this college are from well-to-do family. The placement is not more than 50% for sure and this is the reason why people have started calling it a fake. There are 40000 students at the campus and getting them all placed is not possible realistically. There are many who has got placements and since the college spends heavily in marketing everyone in India knows that student from LPU bagged a placement worth Rs. 28 lakhs per annum. Punjab doesn't have large corporate houses and this is one reason why placements are not done on that scale. Company like Avon, Hero Motors, Monte Carlo, TCS, Punj Lloyd, Daikin, and Blue Star were some of the companies that I saw but in all there were over 50 companies and the campus and took the ones who have fought hard for being placed.

The LPU campus has some 12-13 hostel buildings including boys and girls. The hostel has all the kind of rooms from dormitory to single sharing rooms. The hostel buildings also has guest rooms in that as outsiders are not allowed in the rooms but friends and family can meet the students staying in the hostel in the visitor rooms but there are time restrictions for that. The hostel also provides food 3 times a day and you get Parathas for breakfast and a proper lunch and dinner. The hostel rooms have all the facilities and there are hardly any rooms which are empty at the hostel.

Even from a distance of 2-3 kilometers you can see that you are near LPU as the college building is so well built. The college is massive as it is spread in 600 acres. Every course and department has their blocks. The whole campus is Wi-Fi and you can access internet inside the campus by connecting through Wi-Fi. The campus also has food joints and proper restaurant that serves various dishes. The campus has a small hospital and many doctors stay inside the campus. The college has a cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 10000. The auditorium and the library are world-class or should I say everything is world class at LPU University campus.

The University offers numerous opportunities. The studies are not that strict and one can take time out for the things they are interested in. There are 20 sporting facilities in the campus and all the facilities have top-class coaches. Just like sports the entertainment factor is also high at the campus and University has committees that form a strong core of artist. The events at the University can be heard of in entire state as political personalities like Late Arun Jaitleyji came and inaugurated the fest ceremony with a strong speech. Singers like Neha Kakkar, Shirley Setia, and Jass Manak have all performed in the college auditorium and open air-theatre. LPU was an unforgettable experience that will never come again.
