Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology MBA Review By Nilesh Chauhan

I was into mobile apps development and that was the reason I chose SCIT. I had my sight on the college for a while and a SNAP test is mandatory to make way into premiere institutes of Symbiosis. The SCIT campus was a livewire and one enjoys diversity around them then SCIT is the place. Students from all states of India and even NRI’s study together at SCIT. For data analytics the SCIT’s MBA in Information Technology is the best program. My 1st year at the college was fabulous as I gained all the knowledge that I wanted to and the sharp brains that were around me at the campus helped me through. The students are co-operative and so are the teachers. There’s no room for misjudgment or groupism of any form. All the students at the campus live with each other like a family and also support each other. Most students were already a part of Symbiosis and they got along with us really well. The college incorporates various events throughout and it was the best way to unfurl.

The fabulous classrooms and the culture of the college made learning easy at the college. The only problem is that attendance is strict and a 90% attendance is required. Even if you have skipped the classes for some reasons the college make sure u catch up through videos of those classes and on request the faculty themselves took extra classes and taught us that. My area of interest was data analytics and we had 80 students in the batch. The syllabus is vast and to get all the projects submission and assignments on time was a herculean task but this way the college taught us time management.

The faculty was just too good and was equally supportive. All were ex IIM students and also had a huge industrial experience. All the faculty had a thorough knowledge of the subjects they taught us. They were clear right from the word go that don’t try to make things your forte but work on the things that are your forte. For me, I was always clear with my thought process and that made my relations with the faculty members a friendly one. Even after the college hours the faculty members used to spend time with us to help us with the assignments and used all their resources to make sure we get a proper summer internship in the area of our interest.

For all those who had prior work experience got placement easily but the ones who didn’t had any work-experience found it difficult. Even though after a great summer internship I couldn’t get placements through campus but after proving my mettle and the college name with me, I cracked the Oracle job interview and since pass-out has been working for them. FIIs were the mainstay during our batch and companies like Jefferies, Barclays, and Citi Bank were the top recruiters. The IT hub is in the college vicinity and watching us from close quarters they too showed a fair bit of interest in SCIT students.

Since MBA at SCIT is a pure residential program, staying in the hostel is again mandatory. The hostel was not in the campus as it was a mile away from the campus. The hostel is common for all three Symbiosis institutes that is SCMHRD, SCIT. Staying together with students of different institute was fun. Learning different things from them was fun and the hostel life was truly amazing. There are separate boys and girls wings. In the first year, 3 students stayed together and in final year it became 2 students sharing the room. Each room had lockers and attached bathrooms. The hostel buildings of girls and boys are identical and the facilities too more or less the same. The hostel also provides food just the way I liked and it was a great fun altogether.

The high-tech classrooms, digital library, sophisticated labs, and playing area. The campus wasn’t that big but since it's newly built the buildings were new and the graffiti on walls made it look even more appealing. The campus has a huge auditorium and all the events were hosted in that. The area between the 2 college buildings was used for lectures or live performances. The campus also has a medical room and from security point of view the college is highly secured. The campus also has a canteen that even served wada paavs and perhaps that was the best food item that they served.

I will say it a million times and still won’t stop as the campus was a livewire. On normal days it would look like an old school where students have to come and attend classes but during events the campus looked something else. The budget was never a problem and on events, the college made committees that financed the events and the best projectionist and lightings were provided. Exchanging thoughts from fellow students and students of SIIB and SCMHRD added to our learning. The campus had so much to offer and I still feel as if I am there. I wish I could shout it loud what a brilliant life there was at the SCIT campus.
