From Mumbai to Pune the journey by road is not far but in terms of colleges and the student life, Pune I will have to say is much better. I have never been a fan of in-between things but SCIT has proved it that keeping a check on one department and thereby allowing the students to flourish in others will only help them give their best. I never had the guts to sing in front of crowd and the last time I did that was singing national anthem while I was 9 or 10. There was an open up session before the semester kicked in and we were asked about our hobbies. I said singing and was asked to sing. I kept denying but my fellow mates were in no mood to let it go and I had to finally sing. I thought I will be booed but trust me they all kept cheering and that loaded a hell of lot of confidence in me. This was my first memory at SCIT and during the course of 2 years, I made 1000 such memories.

For someone who has never attended college and had to attend the classes regularly for 8-10 hours daily was like climbing a mountain. I joined some clubs so that I could be excused from the classes. However I was informed by my friends that you have to complete these assignments by tomorrow or else I won’t be allowed to skip the classes. This meant that the college has zero-tolerance for ignoring studies. Don’t take it as if the college is for nerds as the college along with academics has various other things from time to time to make sure students stay fresh and are ready to go when asked. The education system at SCIT is something that Universities should adopt at the grassroots level.

If one wants to see IIM student’s re-union they can come and watch that happen at SCIT. I won’t say most because all of them were IIM graduates. They were aware of how to make student learn and not just theoretically but even during practicals they had surprises in list for us. Their teaching methods were a pure joy because the classes were long but never harsh as in-between jokes and making students sing or share their experiences kept us going. We were always ahead of schedule and faculty members gave us the assurance that they are always available if we had doubts. I was like ‘WoW’, is it true? This may sound a fairytale but trust me that’s SCIT for you.

Not 100% but close to 90 or above 80 that’s for sure. All the companies from IT hub were at the campus be it HCL, Tech Mahindra, or the TCS. One surprise ass many international stock broking firms also hired many from our batch. The average placement package offered during our batch was Rs. 10-12 LPA and the highest package offered to one of the students was Rs. 22 LPA. With SCIT, the placements are more or less guaranteed and the other perks that come along make SCIT one of the coolest places to be at.

Hostel is not located at the campus but at a km or little more than that from the college campus. There are separate boys and girls hostel and the security at the hostel is jam packed. The last in-time is 11pm though but we are not allowed to enter at will if we are not on time. The hostel is shared by all the 3 institutes of Symbiosis that is SCIT, SCMHRD, and SIIB. The hostel was as lovely as the college as it had a student common area and indoor sports facility as well. There was a lawn outside the hostel and was the spot where all of us used to gather and end the day. Food was provided at the hostel but lacked variety. Hence, the food was ok types but other than that absolutely no complaints about it.

State-of-the-art and one from which many can take inspiration. Coolest walls, air-conditioned classrooms, huge library and an auditorium that sprawled during the campus. The campus for SCIT is shared with SCMHRD and therefore the auditorium, parking, and basketball courts were shared. The canteen was also common but the food wasn’t that great and taking the parcels from restaurants that were just outside the college seemed a better option. All in all, the campus is wild during events and equally peaceful during the classes.

From students to the faculty all are cool. Quite a few students were already from Symbiosis some from the commerce college while some from BBA and therefore the competition level at the college was always fierce. Since, I was from Mumbai, people had a lot of expectations from me and that made me push my limits. If we had such campuses in India, I don’t think students should even bother studying abroad. It may feel a bit exaggerated but what I witnessed during those 2 years was out of this world. Life at SCIT was a memory that I will cherish as long as I live.
