MITSOM College BBA Review By Jayendra Marwi

MITSOM is an autonomous college and therefore the pattern of the curriculum is great. The University’s campus, classrooms, labs, and for that matter entire infrastructure is well-maintained. The University is located in Kothrud which is one of the most developed areas of Pune. The college has a pattern and is serious when it comes to academics. There are other opportunities as well for the students but not at the cost of studies. For BBA (IT) the options are less but MITSOM is a better option because the syllabus is updated regularly and is relevant to the market scenario. MITSOM is outstanding than various other colleges of Pune who offers BBA. The faculty were a major drawback as some of them literally threatened us if we don’t listen to them. MITSOM will also open various other doors but the college has some major cons as well. The placement figures that you will see in newspaper ads are completely misleading. The management has a lot corrupt people sitting at the top position. The entrance is not the only parameter to get admissions at MITSOM, your parent’s bank balance can also help you be a part of MITSOM.

Strictness is the first word that comes to my mind. The course itself was so vast that every single day was important. The guest lectures and seminars were like a bomb that can blast anytime. We were in the middle of a lecture and it is announced that we have a guest lecture and all the students has to attend it. The portions were completed on time and we were given a good enough break before the semester exams. I was happy with how they ran things in a planned manner.

Like we have two-paced wickets on a cricket field, we had 2 kinds of faculties at the University. 1st kind always ready to help and teaching methods superb. Never played any politics with students and treated every student on their merit. Now the 2nd type was the ones who wanted puppies and the students who will be their pet will get extra marks in the internals. They will be allowed to bunk classes to participate in events and also gave private classes to their favorite students. There was a massive difference between the teachers and some of them didn’t even know the subject properly but still are teaching for 5-7 years. A fake feedback form was presented if we were unhappy with our faculty members or if they are doing any form of favoritism. Even after writing an essay long feedback form the management persisted with them.

There’s no denying the fact that various companies for over 3 months at the start of every year was at the college. BBA may not be the preferred area and that is why the placements were quite slim. A few of our batch mates actually had a job and those we were let out the college proposed some discounts for them if they do MBA from the institute and were also given assurance that MBA students will get a 100% placements. We weren’t threatened but were warned that never reveal about the placement scenario to others.

The University has a girls and a boys hostel. The number of students that it can accommodate is not more than 20% of the college strength. The University was far here as the allotment was done purely on merit and for those who miss out Kothrud is now a student dominated area due to the number of colleges in the area. A lot of other private hostels and Paying guests are easily available nearby the University campus.

11 on 10 for sure though there are still some loopholes but nobody can question the kind of arrangements that the University has made in regards to Infrastructure. Each building had a tea or coffee shop and a recreational room. Since everything was at some distance each building of the University has the firepower to make student occupied with their own building until the lectures are done for the day. There is a mess and a cafeteria at the campus. The mess was only for hostel students and for the others the cafeteria was good enough as it was huge and had a menu that boasted dishes from South to North India. The library was huge and at least for sure had all the books that I wanted. The auditorium is one of the grandest that you will ever see. The sporting facilities for sure the best among Pune colleges. I have seen the counterparts of MIT and the reason why MIT University has won all large scale sport tournaments is because we had all the facilities at the campus itself.

MIT is always roaring and ready to go. The events of each department and then the event competitions among the other institutes of the University were fun being a part of. I had a sublime time at the campus though had some issues with some of the faculties but was happy at the end as coming so far from the home to study in Pune was worth it.
