Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management PGDM Review By Sravani Isvi

Initially, I was a bit hesitant to join VJIM, as it was part of/associated with the Vignana Jyothi Engineering College. But the college has a separate and entirely different campus for PGDM. My overall experience with the college was just amazing. I have learnt a lot, made a lot of friends and have noticed a very positive change in me. It felt like I grew up to be much more knowledgeable, sociable and matured after the 2-year course at VJIM. There is nothing much to complain about. The college had a mix of students from different states, which enhanced the overall culture of the place. The atmosphere, faculty and the students around were very friendly and helpful. The infrastructure of the college somehow had a great vibe to it.

During the first year, the subjects are common for all the students. A fair introduction to all the electives is given in the first year so that the students are well informed and can wisely choose their major as per their interest and demand in the market. I have opted for Human Resources as my major, before the start of 2nd year. The college also provides an opportunity for a 2-month internship, to get hands-on experience in the industry for the major we choose. The internship is mandatory and also carries a part of the total percentile as far as I remember. The course subjects were very well designed and covered all the major aspects that the industry required, during that period.

The faculty in VJIM are very well-versed with their subject. Almost all of them have had ample experience working in their respective industries. Along with subject expertise, they also had a fair grasp on the current industrial trends. The lectures were always given with live examples from the current market for better understanding. The faculty were also very approachable and friendly. They were always helpful to students with any kinds of doubts. The lectures were delivered in such a way that they were easily understandable and very interactive. Also, from time to time students were asked to present on topics or come up with innovate ideas for small projects. This always kept the students actively participating while learning the subject.

The college has tie-ups with well-reputed companies like Deloitte, Tata Group, ITC and so on. By the end of the course, more than 80 per cent of the students got placed in good companies with a decent package. The average package was 5 LPA, at that time I guess and it goes up to Rs. 10 - 12 LPA as highest. Placement training sessions provided by the college were also reasonably good.

Though the campus was not very huge, It had fairly sufficient space to accommodate all the required facilities like library cafeteria and laboratory. The classrooms were air-conditioned and well-designed so that all the students could have a decent view of the board and the lecturer. There was also a huge auditorium in the centre of the campus, where all the events took place. It had enough space to easily accommodate a whole batch of students. The cafeteria was also very spacious and well-ventilated. The campus is also equipped with playgrounds and medical assistance. The infrastructure on the whole has a very positive and welcoming vibe to it.

The campus atmosphere was always very vibrant and also pleasant at the same time. There was no limitation for the scope of interaction amongst the students. Though students were from different cultural backgrounds we blended in together very easily. There were a lot of academic activities where the students were shuffled into different teams each time. Also, each semester, class sections were shuffled as well, so that we had a maximum scope to get to know everybody. Apart from academics, we also had fests like Chrysalis, freshers party and farewell party where the students participated very actively. Also, the way the entire course was delivered was never very stressful to us, there was enough time to impart theoretical as well as practical knowledge to the students. It was an open campus, so it's up to us to leave and come back whenever.
