Jadavpur University is one of the brilliant institutes for education in India located in Kolkata. We have 4 different faculties named Arts, Science, Engineering and Interdisciplinary. All four faculties have their own fame for excellence in academics and research owing to relentless dedication from students, researchers and professors.

Specifically speaking about B.E. in Mechanical Engineering which is my course. We had to qualify in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) to secure a good rank and some requirements in 10+2 board examinations. It is one of the best Mechanical Engineering branch in India if you go through our syllabus and curriculum. With in depth discussion to a broad range of subjects, it is capable open a grand vista for anyone appearing to enroll.

We have a lot more faculties in our department among whom there are world class researchers. Four faculties from our department have been given the status of world's top 2% most influential scientists by Stanford University. Every course is taught by professors with immense knowledge and brilliant teaching skills. You are allowed to contact them in person anytime you want; even non-departmental teachers are also available. You can take research projects under them outside of our necessary curriculum according to your interest. You can ask those doubts inside and outside the classroom and they will try their best to resolve.

We have a dedicated placement cell in our university run by our students itself. We choose our own placement coordinators and run our own placement process which allows transparency and students-first policy regarding placements. We have our own face book and LinkedIn pages for each department placements. You can check there, last year Mechanical Engineering UG placement was 100%. So yeah definitely come for it.

Our institute have a hostel but with limited availability. Only students who live away from the University as well as are economically weak are eligible to get a boarder ship of hostel. Hostel has all facilities including cheapest mess charges, reimbursed Wi-Fi, playgrounds and allowance to all positive recreational activities.

JU has a central library with access to a lot of books including all departments and sectors. It has also departmental libraries in every one of the departments which are also enriched with all the necessary textbooks you need. Central Library also has a digital library section where you can access books over internet. We have dedicated laboratories like Heat Power Lab, Hydraulics Lab, Workshops (Blue Earth Machines Shop in JU is the largest lathe shop in Asia) computer labs for CAD, CAE, CFD operations. Each classroom has itself a projector and screen with each department having a gorgeous seminar room available for free for any academic and co-curricular activities. But JU is somehow going through a fund crisis. So all the facilities which are available aren't always equipped with best materials.

JU campus life is just awesome. You have technical and non-technical clubs for everything you need. Technical clubs are always doing some projects which enrich your CV and non-techs are the one we live for. You can always see a few people with guitars singing and enjoying. You get free entry in all fests regardless of which faculty organises. There are three Cultural fests Sanskriti named each by three faculties which in total run for about 18 days, there is TechFest Srijan, Sporting events like U-turn, Arena, Parodorshi, Film festival Chhayanat, annual magazine Chhayapath. You will never be bore in JU, in short.
