ISBR Business School MBA Review By Kamlesh Pandey

I studied at ISBR Business School in Bangalore, and graduated in the year 2018. I pursued my MBA here. The minimum requirement to get admission here for the MBA program is to have graduated in any discipline and have at least a minimum aggregate mark of 50%. The admission process consists of three parts. First there is an aptitude test. This includes multiple choice questions relating to language skills, logic, and quantitative reasoning. After this you have to do a micro presentation and then there is a personal interview. This college is associated with Bangalore University. There are many private colleges and Universities in Bangalore that certainly has edge over the colleges that falls under the Bangalore University. ISBR B School though was no less as the course, exposure, and all was brilliant and I have no doubts that ISBR is right up there.

I attended this college from the years 2016-2018. The different programs offered here include commerce, law, business, and technology. It consisted of four semesters, and in the first two we had our core subjects like statistics and marketing. Then it became more specialised in our latter two semesters. You can take electives of your choice like health care management, finance, HR, etc. You will have to do an internship in your third semester and submit that report to the college. In fourth year, you will have to do project work. Most of the subjects here were up to my expectations. The rigourness of the subjects and workload really helped to prepare me for my work life. I struggled with time management in my undergraduate program, but constantly strived to work towards being more organized and planning. This definitely helped me be more organized when it came time for my post-graduation. I would definitely recommend keeping a to-do list every day that can help you sort out all your day to day activities.

There are two types of faculty in our college: full-time faculty and visiting faculty. The head of the college is Dr. Kumar who is the director and has a Ph.D. The average years of teaching experience that teachers in this college have is about 10-15 years. All of the HODs mostly have 20 plus years of experience. I was lucky to have some of the best teachers in the college. Most of them have international experience, and gave us exposure to different types of thinking. Since I pursued my MBA, I guess all my teachers were highly specialised in their subjects. However, the case that usually happens in colleges is the core subjects in the first few years are taught by teachers with less experience, or newer teachers. Then, the more specialised subjects are taught by the more experienced teachers like the head of departments.

A lot of companies come to this college for placement. The year I was graduating about 160 companies came. Some of the ones that came were Flipkart, Amazon, and FedEx. The average package offered was about 8-9 lakhs per annum, and the placement rate was 90%. The highest package got by a student during my year was Rs. 21 lakhs per annum. I personally got recruited into Zoomcar. They came for placements near the end of the cycle, and two people from my class bagged the placement with them, including me. We all were satisfied with the placement opportunities that we got.

This college has two hostels, one for girls, and one for boys. ISBR Hostels have the necessary requirements like Wi-Fi, security, and television. Apart from this, there are also places for indoor and outdoor games. Some of the indoor games are carom and table tennis. There is a mess in the hostels, and this is managed by a student committee who coordinate with the hostel management. The food includes both south and north Indian food to accommodate all the different students staying at the hostel. The course was not residential but due to uncertainty of classes and vast projects submission, I decided to stay at the hostel and experienced what I think everyone should at least once in their lifetime.

The infrastructure here is pretty good compared to most colleges. The classrooms here are equipped with projectors, and there are also AV media rooms, Wi-Fi throughout the campus, library, and a knowledge centre. One of the advantages of the library is that it is open morning and night, and it has many prestigious journals, even from the Harvard Management school.

I could say that this college was an extension of my good undergraduate college days. Even this college provided equal academic and extra-curricular activities for its students. There are various clubs to be a part of, and one of that I participated in was the writing committee for the college journal. It is called Voice, and the writing club prepares it. In it, we would cover what is happening in the college, case studies, and articles from different students can be submitted. Coming to the sports side, there are facilities for different sports like volleyball, table tennis, football, and others. The college takes you to different meets, and some are even outside of the state.
