I got my management diploma in health care management from ISBR Bangalore, it is affiliated with Bangalore University. This college has a ranking in Times magazine for being in the top 100 colleges for PGDM. I got my Bachelors in biotechnology from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, and I fell in love with the city which pushed me to get my PGDM here itself. It is a two-year course, and the minimum to get in is to have a graduate degree in any field and with marks of 50% or more. There are different entrance tests that you can take like the GMAT, CAT, MAT, and the college has its own entrance test called the aptitude test. So in this entrance test you’ll have MCQs from different topics relating to logic and reasoning. This is just used to test how you think. The college is good and for those who miss out the top colleges they can consider this college considering the fact that the college facilities and teaching are in line with the top colleges.

Compared to my graduate college, this college really was a stretch for me. I was not used to the amount of work, and how much responsibility the teachers give to us. It was difficult for me, especially in my first couple semesters, but then I was able to catch up to the academic level with a lot of hard work. You can choose this college if you want a college that really pushes your potential and makes you grow. Some of the courses that this college offers are law, management, technology, and commerce. My diploma was related to healthcare, so the courses I took started out as basic courses like building your soft skills and vocabulary. Then we got the introductory management courses like to finances and health economics. After this, in the final two semesters we were pushed into the health care management world. We had to do an internship in the final year and also write a dissertation.

I think that the biggest difference between my old college and this one is the faculty. Here, the teachers that I had would be available even outside of college hours and truly wanted their students to excel. Most of the teachers that I had, had been teaching for over 10 years. This may be because this was a post graduate course, and hence requires more experienced teachers. Our teachers did not provide usual notes like every day, but if we were not able to find anything or not understand, we could approach them. They would provide it if they have or search for it and communicate that to us. In all, the faculty of the college was co-operative and available for us when we needed them. I would actually rate them 11 on 10 because from my schooling to final college I have never seen such faculty elsewhere.

This college is one of the premier business colleges in Bangalore, so a lot of big-shot companies come to it. More than a hundred companies come for placements annually. Being in the health care world, we also got placement offers from big hospitals like Fortis and Manipal Hospital. Some of the business companies that came were Bank of America, Zomato, and HDFC. The packages ranged between Rs. 4 lakhs to Rs. 21 lakhs, with the average being around 9 lakhs per annum. On the college website it says that people got packages like 40 lakhs per annum and stuff, but that isn’t true. To my knowledge the highest offer was 21 lakh.

I am not from Bangalore, so in both my undergrad and post grad I stayed in hostels. ISBR has a couple hostels with all the basic requirements of a hostel. There is Wi-Fi in the hostels and throughout the campus as well. There is also 24/7 security, and common rooms for games like chess. The food is good for a hostel. They have both north Indian and south Indian food which is nice. If you have any complaints regarding the hostel or mess in the hostel, you can express your complaints to the student committee in charge and they escalate the matter to the management. The one nice thing about hostels here is that the warden actually listens to your concerns, and helps to ease them.

There is a canteen on campus where you can find different types of food to suit your tastes. One nice thing is that there is Wi-Fi all over campus, so you can connect basically anywhere. The library on campus is nice, and has all of the books that you may require for any of the courses you would be taking here. The campus is not too big, but it has the basic requirements like an auditorium, AV room, etc.

After I came out from my undergraduate course, I really felt like I didn’t know anything. I can honestly say that this college changed that. I got to actually learn something and now have it to apply practically in my job. Coming to extra-curricular, there are things like volleyball team, football team, dance team, journal club, etc. You can find something that will suit your interests.
