Atria Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Somprabh Prajapati

AIT’s proximity is one of the best and commute issues will never be a problem. It has to be considered if you are a resident of Bangalore as I had 2 colleges to choose from, SVIT and AIT and even though I wanted to go to SVIT, I had to satisfy myself with AIT. I probably had no problems with AIT once I got in because AIT is also good even though it is never a first-choice college by the students. AIT also had the best faculty which was headed by the capable hands of Dr. T N Sreenivasa. People often complain about the infrastructure but I don’t see anything wrong with that. It isn't that huge but what matters is the facility and they are all top-notch. The college also has lost its name a bit as it is often accused of giving admissions to the students through back doors. It’s true though and it has somehow impacted the kind of talent the college can produce. Not just studies but exploring other areas is also given equal importance. The college’s P&DC club for programming was started by our peers and for CSE students it was a blessing in disguise.

At Atria education matters but it’s not the education only that matters. The semesters are closed much before the time and we had a good enough break before the exams. Academic was the core but the management was happy with our ideas and let us express. We were free to be a part of any club and we had access to all the college facilities till 8 pm. There were in my batch who were introverts and before they turned into engineers they learned various skills and one of them was being expressive.

The number of faculty for CSE was 20+ and all of them were widely experience not just in CSE but in various domains. They stressed on overall development and held a perfect balance between classes and practicals. They were also kind enough even if we bunked the lecture on purpose. One thing that they were strict with was the progress that we made. Before proceeding to the next semester if they felt our basics are not clear they made us study the previous semester's topics again and there was no break free with that. Getting away from them was not so easy as even with such a huge strength the professors cared for each one of us.

Placements could have been better as the CGPA was not the only criteria. We weren’t trained that well for the interview and some students even after good CGPA couldn’t make the cut. Every year the college places hundreds of students and the rate of placement is also good at AIT. Companies like HP, Cognizant, Accenture, etc. had tie-ups with college for the internship programs. The same companies also visited the placement week that lasted 4 weeks as the college used all its influence in making sure that maximum students walk away with placements.

Boys and girls hostel are there inside the campus and that made life easy for students coming from different cities and states. The hostel fees including the mess fees were near 1 lakh and the rooms and the kind of facilities that they were provided were good. For students who don’t feel like staying in the hostel can search for independent apartments near the college area. There are a plethora of flats available and students are given the first preference in most of the residencies near the college proximity.

The campus is huge and the facilities are also top-notch. Classes don’t have an AC but are ventilated and had comfortable seating. The library was huge and had books of numerous disciplines. We were allowed to carry 2 books at a time and to issue the third one we had to submit one. A Library card was issued and before the end of every semester, we had to return the books we have prescribed during the semester. The location is one of the best as we had malls, multiplexes, gardens and restaurants within a radius of 3kms. The college has built a whole new cafeteria that offers dishes of various kinds and you can get literally anything you crave for at the canteen.

The clubs and events at the college made my time memorable at the college. I participated in fests during all 4 years and also represented AIT at many inter-college events. Our achievements were highlighted by the institute in front of the college and sharing the space with college top management filled a whole lot of confidence in me. At AIT, you may not be rubbing the shoulders with the best but the students of the college were still smart and the college did their bit so that we can take on the world. The campus was fully secured and the Wi-Fi connectivity had restrictions on some sites. No sort of ragging or discrimination was done among the students. Students who were outsiders also had a great time at the college as they were never bothered for the region they came from. The atmosphere of the campus was conducive and the location for sure one of the best in Bangalore.
