GD Goenka University MBA Review By Ajay Chaudhary

After failing to get admission in big names, GD Goenka University crossed my mind. I chose this University because Gurgaon is close to my home town and secondly because the University will give admission to anybody irrespective of their scores. The University is nicely built but hardly offers any career opportunities. MBA department of the college is one of the worst as even after the University has some collaboration with international Universities, they don't live up to the expectations. The infrastructure of the University is delightful and I will be safe if I say one of the best in Delhi NCR Universities. The college is built in a barren land and has nothing near the college in a radius of 10kms. The list of good things is endless as it is one of the most chilled out campuses in Delhi NCR. You will never be bothered by what you are wearing or carrying phones. Mobiles are allowed even in the classrooms but you have to keep them on silent. It may in favor of some while disadvantage for some but even smoking is allowed on the campus excluding the admin blocks.

The first section was sarcasm as I will be disclosing the reality about this college in individual sections. Academic is the best because even if you have decided to take MBA course just a month before the 1st-semester exams, you are welcome to GD Goenka University. At the time I joined the class strength was 70 and during the 1st semester, the strength reached 100. The syllabus is in accordance with some foreign Universities but the teaching method is definitely not. The structure is going nowhere as the irregularities of classes and projectors not working were common problems during our time.

The faculty was more interested in asking how many joints the students had the last night. The faculty seems least interested and told us there’s nothing to fear as they set the papers and they will tell us in advance what all questions will come. This is how MBA was done there and the teachers had instructions to pick and choose the sharpest brain and filter them out. This was because the group itself needs a workforce and they have tie-ups with some industries where they could place their favorites.

As I said favorites were picked and chosen from the 2nd semester. The management was more interested in what business does our family has and how you can contribute to your family business. Rather than doing a peanut job contribute to your family business. All this was said because they knew they can’t get them placed. Most of the students too were not bothered about jobs. Since I wasn’t there in their list of favorite contenders, I was given a beautiful pep-talk on how I can contribute to my father’s transport business and all. Some companies that visited the campus include the likes of Hero Moto Corp, Ceat Tyres, and RPG Life Sciences among others. Don’t know about the packages offered as I think that placement drill was just to boost their placement profile.

There are 2 boy’s hostels and 2 girl’s hostels. No restrictions as girls can come to boys' hostel whenever they wished. Occupancy is of 3 types as there was bunk bed room, double and 4 sharing rooms. People used to light joints and smoke the whole day. The rooms are huge and 10-12 people can easily party in one room. There was also a common study room but in reality, it was a party room. Some newbies who don’t smoke did found it tough but after 2 years they became pro at smoking. So if you wish to party hard, please come and stay at the GD Goenka hostel.

The campus is huge and in an isolated land. No shops nearby, in fact, no population nearby. The college has a bus facility that takes students to market even if they want to go daily they are free to. In the name of facilities, there are 4 blocks of 4 different schools. We used to study in Block C that is for management studies. The engineering block was the biggest of them all as there many departments in that. All the buildings are air-conditioned. Parking space is huge as mostly the day scholars are a part of this University. The sporting facilities are top-notch as there is a huge basketball ground and 3 basketball, and 2 lawn tennis courts and a proper tracks, & events court. There are 2 canteens and both of them provide some of the worst food on the planet.

Smoker’s paradise should be the best name as you can ask anyone in Delhi NCR and they will tell you that if you want this variety of weed then you will have to go to GD Goenka. Many students from South India joined the University as they were fond of smoking. Now imagine the kind of popularity that this University has among smokers. The University keeps organizing fests and events. DJ parties were regular and that went on till late at night. The University is a party house and all the party lovers must join this college.
