Maharishi Markandeshwar University Mullana Pharm.D Review By Sanya Rawat

Every student has a dream to attend a reputed college, I was amongst those students. Currently, I am studying in Maharishi Markandeshwar University Mullana, Ambala. I am pursuing PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy). Along with the academics, every year MMU Mullana University organises Inter-university and Intra-university fests named as ‘UniversuMM’ and ‘aMMunation’ but due to corona virus outbreak the fests were held online in 2020. I joined MMDU in the year of 2017 and have been really grateful for the college and hostel life it has offered me in my 4 years of stay.

There are different departments for every course and separate faculty members. Each department has its own fully furnished laboratories for conducting technical and medical experiments and E-Classrooms. Regular presentations are given by professors. Time to time conferences are being organised which are not up to the mark but efforts are counted in. A very appreciable thing about MMDU is that it has its own super specialty hospital through which the medical students take the most benefit. Examinations are also conducted with utmost strictness once or twice a year depending upon the course curriculum. Regular internal assessments are also taken care of.

The faculty members of the university are above average but not the finest of all with the exception of some really great professors. There are sufficient numbers of faculty members but some of them are little less experienced as per the course demands. The faculty is impartial, supports and encourages the students to participate in various academic and co-curricular events. They readily help students in the time of their need.

My course is clinical programme and most hospital based. In general, medical courses are not offered placements. About the technical courses companies like Infosys, TWC, DXE, Nestle, Mankind, Vita offers internship. The package varies with the student’s abilities and goes up to 12 lakhs per annum. The placements are quite fine and not a matter of concern when it comes to MMDU.

MMU Mullana Hostels are really good in all aspects except the mess. There are separate hostels for girls and boys with strict curfew timings. There are single, double, triple sitter rooms according to the interest of students. There is an air conditioned hostel facility available as well but the fees is slightly higher. It is not compulsory to opt for hostel. The hostels are not segregated course wise which leads to students from different courses bonding with each other. Students are allowed to use electrical appliances like coolers, water boilers, inductions, irons etc. making their stay more comfortable. A large Common room with Television facility is provided in each hostel. During winters hot water is supplied in the morning. Anyone can access hostel Wi-Fi through ID and Password provided by admin and there is no limit to internet usage either. The main concern of staying at hostel is the food provided in the mess. Four meals in a day are served. The mess is common for the whole university and is very far away from the hostels. Still, every student must experience hostel life once as it is a blessing in disguise.

MMDU Mullana University occupies a large amount of space. There is different building for each course that is being offered making the colleges very spacious and well organised. Classrooms of some departments are Air conditioned. There is ‘MM Super Specialty Hospital’ for general public and medical students. Each college has its own Library along with a Central library which is very tranquil place to study and concentrate. The university has its very own sports complex where gym facilities are available along with badminton, football and basket ball courts. MMDU has two markets inside the campus called ‘OBC Market’ and ‘SBI Market’. These markets are able to fulfill all the basic needs of the students like stationary, confectionary, banking, hygiene, beauty, restaurants etc. there is also an E-cart facility available for moving around in the campus as the walking distance goes over the boards sometimes. A Central Auditorium is on the campus where all the important conferences and events are held. MMDU is full of greenery and grounds which serve as good hang out places in the day time.

The works and assignments assigned by the college keeps the students busy. The life on campus is very professional yet comfortable. The buzzing around of students in their uniforms gives you all the necessary college like feels. MM University Mullana provides us with abundant amount of opportunities through various kinds of events to be a better version of ourselves. I personally was a part of MMDU event managing team and now a member of a Bhangra Team. To conclude, my experience here has been good if not impeccable and MMDU has given me many things for my life and career. I would recommend every young student to consider MMDU and I am sure it will make you ready for the real world.
