Honest opinion about GEC thrissur

Overall Rating
Government Engineering College Thrissur is one of the top-ranked state government institutes where you can get admission by scoring a decent rank in the KEAM examination. I wanted to study Mechanical Engineering so this is one of the best places where you can join. I recommend this college for several reasons some of them are: Gaining Practical Experience: there are some clubs which have strong roots set by our seniors like SAE where you learn so much about automobile manufacturing and design. GECT offers freedom to do a lot of things apart from the curriculum.
 

Academics Rating
As I have already stated, I have chosen B.Tech in mechanical engineering. The last rank for admission in the Mechanical Branch was 9000 in General category during the admission of 2023. A rank of 5000 minimum secures a seat at Government Engineering College Thrissur. Eligibility is 12th qualified and rank of 6000 or above to ensure the seat. My motive is to gain technical knowledge and to study further in my master's.
 

Faculty Rating
To be honest, most of the faculties are student-friendly and teach interestingly, but there are exceptions as always. Some teachers have low attendance and do not provide interesting lectures. While some of them explain in detail with relevant and practical examples. Proper listening is required with taking down lecture notes to excel in your studies. Always remain independent and try learning yourself from different sources.
 

Placement Rating
The placements are better compared to other private and government colleges. Mechanical Engineering has good placements compared to other government and private colleges( except CET, NITC IIT Palakad). However, the placements are currently decreasing compared to other years.
 

Hostel Rating
There are hostel facilities provided for students from distant places. Your place, rank, and reservations all matter for getting hostel facilities. The facilities are decent and the food is also average. Not the best hostel facilities but no mich complaints.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure is really great with separate blocks for different branches of engineering. The main block has a unique architectural design and a vintage touch. Each corner of the campus has got its vibe. The evenings are really great to hang out and talk with your friends sitting at different spots of the campus. There are main grounds that are hockey ground, basketball court, volleyball court, gym, etc.
 

Campus Rating
If you are looking for a campus that would provide you with infinite memories to treasure in your hearts then this is the place. Government Engineering College Thrissur provides you the freedom to enjoy your campus life to its fullest. The tech fest DYUTHI is really popular and one of the best in the state. There are clubs with deep roots set by our seniors and these clubs really help you. Choose one or two clubs according to your interests.

    GECT is one of the top engineering colleges in Kerala and the second best college for Architectural courses. Its most striking feature is exposure it offers which is incomparable to other colleges even.     It is the second best college in Kerala under APJ KTU University. It is one of the oldest Engineering Colleges in Kerala. It is on top 200-300 NIRF ranking. The college has a very vast campus.     The main reason I chose to enroll in this college is because it’s a government college as one of the 8 government colleges in Kerala. The fees you have to pay here to complete your course are negligible. The cheap cost is the major reason I chose this college. If you have enough rank in KEAM exam, you can study here.     GEC college is the best college of the year. The college itself has 75 acres, which is a very big campus to enjoy. The college has various engineering courses like mechanical, production, computer, etc. Behavior of the teachers makes students more attracted to them for doubts and talks.
